PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Sterile Processing Technician must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess at least one year experience in the OR or Central Sterilization. The Sterile Technician must have a basic understanding of aseptic technique, knowledge of sterilization principles, processing techniques and instrument/equipment care. The Tech must be certified in sterile processing by an accredited organization required by eighteen (18) months. The Sterile Technician must be able to adapt to a repetitive, short cycle operation, have some ability to operate large equipment, to disassemble and assemble instruments and possess some familiarity with surgical instrumentation. PHYSICAL GUIDELINES: Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; light lifting, pulling or pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, push and/or pull equipment up to 100 pounds.
