    HIRING AN ELECTRICAL DESIGN DIRECTOR - HEALTHCARE IN DALLAS DBR is hiring a proven Electrical Design Director to lead technical and quality standards in the Dallas office. This key role demands a senior expert who can ensure the integrity, safety, and performance of electrical systems for complex healthcare projects while guiding and mentoring the next generation of engineers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the senior technical reviewer and responsible Professional Engineer (PE) for all electrical engineering deliverables, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, emergency power systems, lighting, grounding, and specialized systems. Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Electrical Discipline's Quality Control processes and checkpoints, ensuring all designs are robust, coordinated, and meet the highest standards of the firm and the industry. Maintain expert-level, up-to-date knowledge of and ensure strict adherence to all relevant codes, including the NEC, NFPA 99 (Healthcare Facilities), NFPA 110 (Emergency Power), FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities, and Texas state regulations such as TDSHS. Collaborate closely with Project Managers (PMs) and the Healthcare Practice Leader to define the electrical design scope, manage the engineering budget and labor hours, and proactively mitigate technical risks to guarantee projects are delivered on time and within financial targets. Act as a senior-level technical contact for key healthcare clients, establishing trust and providing strategic counsel on critical infrastructure planning, redundancy, and long-term facility life-cycle cost analysis with supporting Project Manager. Provide strategic direction and daily operational oversight for the Dallas Electrical Engineering team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on technical excellence and client service. Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, helping them advance toward PE licensure, develop specialized healthcare system expertise, and enhance their QA/QC skillset. Work with firm leadership to forecast personnel needs, participate in recruitment of senior staff, and conduct performance reviews to develop the overall strength of the electrical practice area. Perform additional assignments as requested/needed. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor s in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, ABET accredited degree. A minimum of 15+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in the design of electrical systems for the built environment. A minimum of 6 8 years of dedicated, senior-level experience in healthcare MEP consulting, specifically designing and managing projects for acute care hospitals, medical centers, and specialized clinical facilities. Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, with current registration in Texas (or the ability to obtain it via comity within 6 months). And eligible for multistate registrations. Expert proficiency in the design of redundant and reliable electrical distribution systems, emergency power generation and paralleling, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, and complex lighting control systems.
