HESA S.p.A. company history timeline

1976

In 1976, IUSPA sponsored the first Midwest Meeting of Graduate Students in Student Personnel (MMOGSISP). One hundred students, representing 12 universities, attended the first of what would become an annual Midwestern graduate student event in the field of student affairs.

1988

Being a part of the local authority structure, polytechnic funding and statistical reporting operated differently across the four nations of the UK. In 1988 the Polytechnics and Colleges Funding Council assumed responsibility for funding the newly-incorporated polytechnics.

1991

In 1991 the Higher Education Statistics Coordination Working Party, chaired by Professor (later Sir) Michael Sterling, the then Chair of USR, called for a greater coherence in UK higher education statistics.

1994

At one minute past midnight on 1st December 1994, Debbie Price of the West London Institute of Higher Education (later part of Brunel University) made the first ever HESA submission.

2007

In 2007, 31 years later, IU was able to host the conference again, providing leadership opportunities for all students in the IU HESA program.

2015

In 2015, in accordance with a directive from Indiana University Administration, IUSPA officially changed its name to SPA at IU.
