Holy Redeemer Parish company history timeline

1984

Brennan continued as pastor of Holy Redeemer until his retirement in 1984.

1985

The M.H.R. AIDS Support Group was established in 1985 and until recently had offices in a parish-owned flat on 18th Street.

1988

James F. Buckley, pastor of St Margaret’s Parish, Buzzards Bay became the first diocesan priest appointed as pastor of Holy Redeemer in June of 1988.

In 1988, the Sacred Hearts priests decided to withdraw from the lower Cape parishes that they had served faithfully for seventy-eight years.

1989

Three Holy Family Sisters from New Orleans, LA joined our School in 1989.

2001

During 2001-02 school year Holy Redeemer School celebrated 100 years of academic excellence.

2004

It was re-accredited in 2004 and expanded its outreach to new families from surrounding neighborhoods in the District of Columbia and from the down-town workforce.

2005

Gallant’s tenure the 50th Anniversary of the parish was celebrated during 2005.

2007

In July 2007, Holy Redeemer School united in a partnership with the University Of Notre Dame in Indiana to become a MAGNIFICAT SCHOOL.

2012

In the Fall of 2012, Holy Redeemer Parish received into its membership former members of the St Aloysius Gonzaga parish.
