Catherine O’Hara, in full Catherine Anne O’Hara, (born March 4, 1954, Toronto, Ontario, Canada), Canadian comedic actor whose improvisational skills and ability to imbue her comic characters with depth and humanity brought her respect and a number of career-defining roles.

1976

When the troupe initiated the sketch comedy TV show SCTV in 1976, O’Hara was part of the cast.

1981

When SCTV was picked up in 1981 for a late-night slot to air in the United States, O’Hara, after briefly working for Saturday Night Live, rejoined the show.

1982

In 1982 she won an Emmy Award for her writing contributions to SCTV.

1989

Then, in 1989 Culkin starred in Uncle Buck with John Candy, and Hughes was so impressed with him that he wrote the role of Kevin specifically for Culkin.

2006

In Guest’s For Your Consideration (2006) O’Hara played an aging actress who hopes to receive an Oscar for her performance in the fictional Home for Purim.

2015

In a 2015 interview with Us Weekly, Catherine O'Hara revealed that she and Macaulay Culkin still talk after all these years.

2017

Forbes reported that until 2017, "Home Alone" has been the highest domestic theatrical grossing live-action comedy with a total of $285.7 million.
