1936

Established in 1936 as an independent community pharmacy, BLACKBURN’S Physicians Pharmacy, Inc. (d/b/a BLACKBURN’S) has evolved into an award-winning comprehensive provider.

1964

In 1964 the Smithsonian also opened a brand new museum—the Museum of History and Technology (now the National Museum of American History)—which greatly expanded exhibition and storage space, as well as curatorial staff.

1971

Since 1971, CarePro Health Services’ mission has been to provide you with the services and products you and your family need for a happier, healthier life.

1971 – Ray Buser, RPh, buys Claxton Pharmacy and founds C.R. Pharmacy Service, Inc.

Shuman HealthCare & Specialty Pharmacy has been providing quality pharmacy services and home medical equipment to Georgia folks since 1971.

1973

1973 – Fifth Avenue Pharmacy opens as a full-service community pharmacy and later develops compounding, medical supply (ostomy) and equipment, and nursing home pharmacy.

1980

1980 – Shutts Pharmacy is purchased and renamed Shepley Pharmacy.

1984

1984 – C.R. IV Service, Inc. begins as Claxton's Home IV Service, providing alternate-site infusion therapy services, supplies and nursing.

1986

1986 – Claxton's Home IV Service joins the national network of Option Care offices, changing its name to Claxton's Option Care.

1989

1989 – Liberty Pharmacy in North Liberty opens as a full-service community pharmacy.

1990

1990 – Company purchases Paramount Pharmacies.

1991

1991 – Claxton Pharmacy conducts one of the first national studies on a new concept in pharmacy known as Pharmaceutical Care - providing patient-centered pharmacy services.

1992

1992 – Claxton's Option Care expands into Central Iowa, relocates to 402 10th Street SE and undergoes another name change, becoming Option Care of East & Central Iowa.

1997

In December 1997, Preferred Homecare started as a small company with 27 employees and 9 branch locations in Arizona.

1997 – Paramount Pharmacy East and Claxton Pharmacy merge to form CarePro Pharmacy - A Avenue

1998

1998 – CarePro Pharmacy Tipton is purchased and operates as a full-service community pharmacy.

1999

1999 – Pharmacy Care Associates, a pharmacy providing services to 1,700 nursing home beds in Eastern Iowa, is sold to Omnicare.

2000

2000 – CarePro Advance Health opens, providing natural health consultative services, preventive screenings, vitamin and herbal supplements, natural skin care products, organic and specialty foods.

2003

2003 – Worksite Wellness is developed as one of the early programs in the country offering pharmacist directed corporate wellness.

2004

CarePro Health Services became 100% employee-owned on January 14, 2004.

2006

2006 – Fifth Avenue Medical and the five retail pharmacies become accredited to provide durable medical equipment.

2007

In addition to organic growth, Preferred Homecare set forth a plan to grow through acquisitions and in 2007 purchased Park InfusionCare in Texas.

2007 – Fifth Avenue Medical changes its name to CarePro Home Medical.

2008

2008 – CarePro Home Infusion remodeled to provide a state-of-the-art facility for preparing specialized forms of medications including a new space for CarePro Compounding.

2010

In 2010 to grow our Colorado presence, Centura, a hospital-based durable medical equipment company (DME), was acquired.

2010 - MED-PASS introduces the first comprehensive data collection form for documenting MDS 3.0 assessments in Medicare funded nursing facilities.

2011

2011 – Liberty Pharmacy was remodeled and expanded.

2011 - MED-PASS partners with Florida Atlantic University/Pathway Health to provide INTERACT™ tools.

2012

2012 - Reynolds & Reynolds acquires MED-PASS.

2013

2013 - MED-PASS move to Reynold & Reynolds corporate office.

2016

2016 - MED-PASS introduces Patient Information Handbooks that allow for customization of material to meet state regulations and agency polices/procedures.

2017

2017 - MED-PASS introduces new documentation and manuals created in response to the most significant changes to the SOM and related F-tags in preparation of PDPM (Patient-Driven Payment Model) for Long-Term Care.

2017 - MED-PASS expands their product line with custom branded items to provide creative and targeted promotional material.

2018

George Blackburn is the winner of the 2018 VGM HME Woman of the Year Award! Georgie Blackburn, vice president of the Government Relations and Legislative Affairs for BLACKBURN’S has served as a passionate advocate for improved health care policies for over 10 years.

2018 - MED-PASS expands their Home Health line to include a new Emergency Preparedness manual and form to help meet new CMS Emergency Preparedness Conditions of Participation requirements.

2018 - MED-PASS partners with BlueStep to provide a new customizable EHR for Assisted Living Communities.

2021
