Your key responsibilities
The State Income Tax Senior will oversee state-level tax projects, including compliance and related research. You will also be responsible for managing, preparing, administering, and directing multiple state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.

Executing state income tax compliance responsibilities.
Monitoring and analyzing changes in state income tax laws and regulations and determine impact to the client.
Providing complex tax research, planning and consulting services to diverse clients, including federal and state tax regulations.
Assisting with various tax planning, research, and special projects.
Preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual state income tax provisions.
Modeling various state income tax benefits and consequences using Microsoft Excel, PowerBI or Alteryx.
Writing tax technical memos to succinctly articulate issues, conclusions, and the analysis with respect to various state tax issues.
Developing and working with staff to create a team environment.
To qualify for the role, you must have
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline; or, a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and an LLM in taxation or related education.
Approximately three years of related work experience.
High level of proficiency in state income tax code, regulations, and procedures
A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
The ability to analyze client data, technical guidance, and make recommendations to engagement teams.
The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes.
Willingness to travel as needed and working in a balanced hybrid environment.
Ideally, you'll also have
An achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation or possess the ability to sit for or be a member of a state bar.

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $81,700 to $135,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $98,100 to $153,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.

How you will contribute
As a Senior Associate within Private Client Services, Tax you will:
Assist with providing tax and consulting services to high net worth individuals in the areas of individual income tax, wealth transfer and succession planning, and international tax
Assist with tax compliance for individual tax clients working proficiently with specific tax forms as follows: 1040, 1041, 709, and FinCEN 114
Support a multidisciplinary team, assisting with tax-planning responsibilities for individual clients
Assist with Identifying, researching, and providing analysis on a wide range of complex tax issues
Attend client calls to understand critical areas of importance and apply tax technical knowledge to specific client situations
Create deliverables that are concise, complete and address the elements deemed critical by the client
Mentor Associates when they are supporting the same projects by delegating appropriate tasks, ensuring they complete tasks efficiently and sharing best practices
Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses; with opportunity to assume additional responsibility quickly

The Team

How you will contribute
As a Senior Associate within Federal Tax you will:
Assist with tax provision preparation and/or review for quarterly and annual reporting for both SEC registrants and private entities
Participate in tax-planning for corporate clients
Assist and review federal income tax compliance for various legal entity structures i.e. corporations, partnerships, etc.
Assist with U.S. tax compliance projects for multinational companies
Independently conduct and review research and analysis of a wide range of tax issues
Assist with special projects in specific technical areas such as tax basis balance sheets, valuation allowance, accounting for uncertain tax positions, indefinitely reinvested earnings assertion, outside basis differences, and share-based payments
Review clients' tax accounting processes and internal controls for assessment of risk and remediation actions
