This position is integral to our college operations in helping us recruit and hire new and returning employees and by assisting with processing all of the changes to assignments that occur over the course of our employees' careers.
The Human Resources Coordinator within the UAA College of Health works within a team to advise colleagues on UA HR policies, procedures, and best practices. The Human Resources Coordinator responds to requests for employment actions and carries out a variety of tasks and processes related to hiring, onboarding, assignment changes, timesheet assistance, performance management, approval routing, and more.

You will need to interpret requests and provide information about HR-related processes and procedures to stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications:

This role supports the B.A. in Social Work degree, which is delivered through online asynchronous, distance-based Zoom, and hybrid modalities, including our rural-intensive cohort. The faculty member will teach three to four courses per semester-including SWK F103: Introduction to Social Work and upper-division 300-level major courses-while also recruiting, advising, mentoring, and supporting a diverse student population.
The successful candidate will be responsible for high-quality instruction across all program modalities; curriculum development and modification for distance delivery; and holding office hours appropriate to the courses taught. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the position includes a service component involving participation in departmental, college, and university committees; community and public service activities; support of program accreditation processes; and serving as faculty advisor for at least one student organization.
To thrive in this role, the successful candidate will be a collaborative, student-centered educator with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to teaching Social Work at the university level. They will bring experience with distance-education technologies and an understanding of multicultural and rural social work practice, particularly in ways that align with CSWE accreditation standards. The Learning Commons (LC) provides educational support and opportunities to all UAA students. The LC offers services to promote student success including: subject-specific tutoring, writing support, communication and presentation coaching, the Learning Assistant program, open study space, and more.
To thrive in this role, candidates should be organized, patient, caring and understanding. Academic Coaches must be good at managing their time, staying on top of their coursework and other responsibilities, willing to learn and able to take the lead on projects like creating tips sheets, maintaining and organizing useful documents and handouts, or leading workshops on academic skills. The Campus Recreation Assistant is responsible for monitoring facility access and ensuring the safe usage of the REC Center. This is a mid-level entry position that requires experience with cash handling. Knowledge of customer service, recreation, and wellness. First Aid and Adult CPR certification is preferred, or a willingness to obtain this certification. Responsible for renting REC Center outdoor equipment, monitoring the entrance and exit, checking in guests and members, and maintaining a clean, friendly environment. Other responsibilities may include cardio/weight room inspection and cleaning, event set-up, and display creation. We are looking for self-motivated team players that enjoy spending time at the REC Center and taking advantage of its diverse facility offerings.
Applicants should be familiar with the services campus recreation provides.
Staff will assist with the opening and closing of the REC Center. We are looking for two employees to share summer shifts of 10:45am to 3:30pm and 3:30pm to 8:00pm, Monday through Sunday. Due to campus and room rentals some hours might occur outside of our standard operating hours above. The Summer rate is $15.57/hr. This position can easily transfer to the academic year if a positive employment record is maintained.
The successful candidate must have excellent customer service skills and the desire to work with a diverse public. Must have good attention to detail and cash handling experience. Experience with fitness and wellness preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires current certification or willingness to obtain certification in Basic First Aid and Adult CPR (preferred). Point of sales experience required. One to three years of customer service and/or recreation experience preferred.
To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:
a. Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment;
or

The College of Liberal Arts Department of Music seeks a Term Instructor of Piano to join the team on the University of Alaska Troth Yeddha campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Department of Music has approximately 50 majors, offering a BA in Music, a BM in Performance, an MB in Music Education, and an MM in Performance. The department is creatively active, with nearly 100 musical events scheduled in a given semester, ongoing community outreach, and a vibrant and diverse student community.
The successful candidate will work as a team member within the Music department and the College of Liberal Arts to fulfill a bi-partite workload of teaching and service. To thrive in this role, the applicant should possess experience in teaching in the field of study at the college/university level, as well as experience developing curriculum and teaching materials for various teaching modalities. The ability to work with and instruct students of different backgrounds and with different learning styles is of extreme importance. You will be expected to teach 2-3 courses per semester in Functional Piano and Fundamentals of Music, with the possibility of additional courses in Class Piano, music history, or music theory, depending on the department's needs, and fulfill various service obligations within the academic year.
To thrive in this role, candidates should have a strong interest in teaching and mentoring students in both face-to-face and online modalities. They need to be comfortable with learning and using instructional technologies in their courses.
The primary focus of the position will be on accompaniment activities, and the applicant should expect to spend a large portion of time preparing music and rehearsing with students, faculty, and guest artists. Experience and enthusiasm for coaching students collaboratively will help the applicant be successful. In addition, candidates will be part of a small, close-knit department that values teamwork, respect, and mutual support, and need to be comfortable working as an active team member.
Minimum Qualifications:
MM Collaborative Piano, Piano Performance, or similar degree. Graduate or Teaching Assistant experience of at least two years in piano accompaniment or collaborative piano.
Preferred Qualifications: DMA in Collaborative Piano, Piano Performance, or similar degree. Experience in teaching piano for non-pianist music majors, accompanying and coaching professionals and students.

This position is located on the Troth Yhedda' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. Education & Experience

* Prior experience counseling at a college or university preferred.
Special skills & knowledge:
Demonstrated competency in written and oral communication. Experience with computer programs such as Word and Excel and other database management skills.
