Position Summary We are seeking a Field Service Repair Technician to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center. The FS Repair Technician involves troubleshooting and repairing turbines, stators, and rotors in generators at customer locations. The candidate will learn to operate test equipment, diagnose issues, and determine necessary repairs. Responsibilities include assisting in testing components, using precision measuring instruments, and working under close supervision with inspections. The role also involves coordinating field service tooling and maintaining a professional image at job sites. The candidate should have a strong desire to advance to the Generator Technician position. Essential Duties Help to construct and operate testing equipment to identify problems and determine necessary field service. Assist with paperwork, including test data, daily logs, job information, timesheets, and final reports. Learn procedures for rewinding, re-wedging, re-blocking, rebuilding stator bars/coils or cores, and repairing turbines and related components. Gain knowledge in winding insulation, curing, cooling stator bars/coils, and blocking bars/coils. Build and assemble slot wedges into stator core grooves. Acquire skills in stator core construction methods, including flooding, end winding, side bar packing, top and bottom filler, and resistance temperature detectors. Work with various resins and solvents. Become proficient with various hand and power tools. Learn to operate a portable milling machine and wire welding procedures. Help inventory and ensure supplies and equipment are in good working order before and after job site visits. Operate overhead cranes and lift trucks properly. Maintain a simplified tooling process by ensuring all responsible parties for a field project are aware of all tools sent out. Prepare purchase requisitions for tooling, materials, and chemicals, coordinating with various suppliers. Customize tooling designs or fabrication with various departments. Coordinate shipping and receiving of field service tooling to job sites. Inspect tools, including calibration and restocking, and follow procedures for testing electrical equipment. Coordinate the calibration of tooling and fabricate or modify as needed. Develop a mindset for service and courtesy. Perform other tasks requiring similar or lesser skills, usually of short duration to meet field service requirements. Travel Up to 90% Education and Required Experience High School Diploma or Equivalent. Trade or Technical Degree in a related field preferred. 1-3 years of experience with working knowledge of shop practices and basic electrical and mechanical fundamentals, gained through vocational training. Minimum 3 years previous experience in a similar or related role or 1-3 years' experience in power generation field service, in lieu of vocational training. Cooperative work crew skills, as work is performed at field locations. Proficient in basic arithmetic operations, including decimals and fractions, and able to use formulas, blueprints, specifications, and tables. Skilled in using various precision measuring instruments. Familiarity with hand tools. Capable of operating overhead cranes and fork trucks. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and able to learn new software programs, such as Oracle for purchase requisitions. Previous experience in millwright, carpentry, welding, electrical, or HVAC roles preferred. Knowledgeable in Asbestos abatement and lead awareness training preferred. Possess a valid driver's license for travel to customer sites. Must be able to pass requirements to gain unescorted access to a nuclear facility. Must be able to work without restriction throughout U.S, Canada, and Mexico. I also knew that the upside of ownership would be much better than the alternative, which is associate dentist. Ownership would provide me financial freedom, being my own boss, keeping any profits that the practice made and, eventually, creating systems so that I could eventually hire people and sit back and operate the business. And so, I graduated and started my career as an owner dentist. Though there was an issue - student loans. I don't know how much you have, but I had some crazy amount like $550,000. Not only that, but my wife had about $500,000 as well (she's also a dentist). But that's not the scary part. The scary part is the interest. I was in the IBR program where you pay like the absolute minimum. And that's when it hit me. While I was paying the minimum, my principal balance kept going up. I did this for about 3 years without truly knowing what was going on. So yeah, I was making money and invested into real estate, but decided to just pay off over a million dollars in student loans. The point I'm trying to make is that being an associate dentist isn't what it used to be. Associates have student loans they have to pay (probably the biggest one), car loans, rent / mortgage, family, life, and the cycle goes on and on. And that's precisely why I'm trying to let as many associate docs know the value of ownership and opportunity cost. Though we averaged a little over 5 mil for our practices, the top owner doc produced $8,864,788 for the year of 2024. I guess he was impressed by the system, so he took over another CLD practice… and this is the doc that became an owner doc after 8 months of graduation. And to complete the range, the bottom number is $1,958,239 while we had one full time and one part time doc on site (four days a week). I own this practice, but didn't have to work in it the whole year and still made this much. These are truly achievable results because, well, we did it and you can come to meet us whenever. And yes, it sounds too good to be true because I feel it too as I'm writing this. But you'll just have to see it for yourself. We're a legit company and we're here. In fact, we have something called "Item 19" in our Franchise Disclosure document. It's a public, legal document where it shows how much we've made each month for the whole year of 2024. Job Summary: NTI is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fiber Splicer to join our team in a union position under IBEW Local 20. The Fiber Splicer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of high-count fiber optic cables, ensuring optimal performance of telecommunications networks. This role requires advanced technical expertise in fusion splicing, testing, and troubleshooting, with a focus on working with live fiber networks during maintenance windows. Candidates must have a proven track record of splicing and testing for Zayo and other dark fiber providers, along with extensive experience using Fujikura fusion splicing machines, EXFO testing equipment, and FastReporter software. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Fiber Splicing and Installation: Perform fusion splicing on high-count fiber cables, including 864ct, 1728ct, and 3456ct, with precision and adherence to industry standards. Execute mid-sheath (ring-cut) splicing on high-count fiber cables to support network expansions and repairs. Conduct live fiber network splicing during designated maintenance windows to minimize service disruptions. Install fiber optic cables in various environments, including underground, aerial, and indoor settings. Testing and Troubleshooting: Perform Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing to evaluate fiber optic cable integrity and performance. Conduct Optical Loss Test Set (OLTS) testing to measure signal loss and ensure network reliability. Troubleshoot live/active network fiber issues, identifying and resolving faults to maintain service continuity. Generate detailed FastReporter reports to document test results, splicing activities, and network performance for client submission. Equipment and Software Proficiency: Operate Fujikura fusion splicing machines to achieve low-loss splices on high-count fiber cables. Utilize EXFO testing equipment for accurate OTDR and OLTS testing, ensuring compliance with client specifications. Leverage FastReporter software to produce comprehensive reports for network documentation and quality assurance. Additional Technical Tasks: Pull fiber optic cables through conduits, ducts, or other pathways to support network installations. Assist in bolting telecommunications cabinets to secure infrastructure components (preferred skill). Install basket trays to organize and protect cabling systems (preferred skill). Operate scissor lifts safely for aerial or elevated work (preferred skill). Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and NTI's safety standards, to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain a clean workspace and follow proper handling procedures for fiber optic materials and equipment. Complete required documentation for splicing, testing, and maintenance activities in accordance with company and client standards. Work Schedule and Environment: Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, adapting to project requirements. Perform tasks during daytime and occasional nighttime maintenance windows as required by client schedules. Stand for extended periods (8-10 hours per day) and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Education and Experience: Experience with Dark Fiber Providers: Minimum of 2-3 years of verifiable experience splicing and testing fiber optic cables for Zayo and other dark fiber providers, with a demonstrated ability to meet stringent quality and performance standards. Equipment and Software Expertise: At least 3 years of hands-on experience using Fujikura fusion splicing machines for high-count fiber splicing (864ct, 1728ct, 3456ct). Minimum of 3 years of experience performing OTDR and OLTS testing with EXFO testing equipment, ensuring accurate diagnostics and reporting. At least 2 years of experience producing FastReporter reports for network documentation, with proficiency in analyzing and presenting test data. Technical Skills and Knowledge: Proven ability to perform mid-sheath (ring-cut) splicing on high-count fiber cables. Familiarity with live fiber network splicing during maintenance windows to ensure minimal service disruption. Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving issues on live/active network fiber. Experience in cable pulling to support fiber optic network installations (required). Knowledge of cabinet bolting techniques (preferred). Familiarity with installing basket trays for cable management (preferred). Experience operating scissor lifts for elevated work (preferred). Physical and Environmental Requirements: Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to travel nationally. The average rotation is 10 days out, 5 days home. Capability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day and perform physically demanding tasks. Background and Compliance: Must pass a clean background check and drug screen as a condition of employment. Fluency in English for effective communication with team members and clients.
