**The Role**
The Retention Strategist is a critical member of the Large Enterprise GTM Customer Success organization. This role is responsible for driving customer retention, managing complex renewal processes, and identifying opportunities for account growth through strategic upsell and cross-sell initiatives. The position requires a high level of business acumen, discretion, and independent judgment to influence pricing strategies, negotiate terms, and develop retention frameworks that align with organizational goals. The Retention Strategist serves as a trusted advisor to customers, ensuring long-term value and satisfaction while collaborating across multiple internal teams including Sales, Finance, Legal, and Customer Success.

**The Main Responsibilities**
+ Own and execute end-to-end renewal strategy, including forecasting, outreach, negotiation, and confirmation of contracts.
+ Develop and continuously improve retention playbooks and processes to maximize account value and minimize churn.
+ Exercise discretion in structuring complex deals, pricing adjustments, and migration strategies for high-value accounts.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Sales, Customer Success) to align renewal terms with company objectives.
+ Analyze competitor trends, market signals, and customer data to inform retention and expansion strategies.
+ Proactively identify and generate expansion opportunities within existing accounts, including upsell, cross-sell, and add-on services.
+ Handle escalations related to contract questions, negotiations, and requests, resolving issues with independent judgment.
+ Maintain and report a rolling 90-day renewal forecast by segment and territory, providing strategic insights to leadership.
+ Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency by identifying process gaps and implementing solutions.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert on retention strategies, providing guidance and training to internal teams as needed.
**What We Look For in a Candidate**
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, communications, or related field.
+ 6+ years of experience in client-facing roles, ideally within SaaS or enterprise technology environments.

**The Role**

What You'll Do
FoundationCCC's Resource Development Department seeks a senior associate who will be an effective contributor to a highly productive, quality-oriented, collaborative grants team. Working with program teams and other departments, the position researches, writes, and coordinates the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals, matching funder priorities with fundable projects. The senior associate develops and maintains systems for organizing and sharing information, including through Salesforce, Asana, and other digital tools. Gather information for, write, edit, compile, and submit very high-quality grant proposals, competitive contract bids, concept papers, and letters of intent that are persuasive, accurate, and carefully consistent with funder priorities, guidelines, deadlines, and other instructions.
Coordinate with internal and external program and project partners to identify potential funders and grant opportunities; develop timelines and work for producing grant proposals; plan and articulate outcomes, objectives, deliverables, and budgets; and design, write, and gather supplemental materials for grant application submission.
Research, understand, and track current and future grant opportunities, summarizing them and disseminating or promoting them internally, as appropriate.
Facilitate and track revisions to scopes of work, budgets, and key dates for grants, and keep key internal and partner stakeholders informed of these.
Attributes for Success
Minimum of five (5) + years of work experience with demonstrated success

About the Legal Advocacy Department

The Department's work focuses on three broad issue areas: Criminal Law & Immigration; Democracy, Speech & Technology; and Appeals & Special Litigation. The Department's staff is based in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Fresno. Criminal Justice Internship
Criminal Law & Immigration Project interns will participate in one or more of the team's core streams of work, which includes: Prosecutorial Accountability; Police Accountability; Decarceration; and Immigrants' Rights. The Prosecutorial Accountability project aims to increase engagement in prosecutorial elections, increase accountability, and draw attention to the immense power and discretion exercised by prosecutors. The Police Accountability project aims to reduce criminalization, police power and abuse of power, implementation of police reform at the state and local level, and effective oversight on police power. The Decarceration project aims to reduce incarceration and includes bail reform work and indigent defense advocacy. The Immigrants' Rights work focuses on projects that ensure that the civil rights of immigrants, refugees, asylum-seekers are protected under federal, state, and local law.
Interns will be tasked with legal and policy research and analysis; helping to author advocacy materials, portions of court documents, and pre-litigation demand letters; and/or assisting with legislative or other local campaigns. Interns may attend and participate in hearings at the state and county level and meetings with policy-makers and advocates as opportunities arise. Interns may also attend appellate arguments, trial court proceedings, and depositions. Interns are encouraged to attend and participate in departmental meetings, where prospective litigation and policy strategies are discussed. Assignments may arise that provide interns the opportunity to work across the Department's three broad issue areas, including Democracy, Speech & Technology and Appeals & Special Litigation.

Donor Database Administrator The Database Administrator recognizes the critical role that accurate, complete, and detailed data plays in effective decision-making. They are motivated by finding innovative ways to leverage technology, and they are committed to expanding their expertise by applying best practices in data entry and management. This position is responsible for managing the Downtown Women's Center's donor database to ensure accuracy, process gifts, generate reports, and support overall fundraising efforts. Core responsibilities include maintaining constituent and gift records, ensuring timely and precise data entry, producing donor acknowledgements, and collaborating closely with both the Development and Finance teams. The ideal candidate will understand the fundamentals of nonprofit fundraising and the essential role that reliable data plays in stewarding donor relationships. Reporting to the Manager of Donor Operations, the Database Administrator is an integral member of DWC's Development team and will handle sensitive donor, grant, and financial information with the utmost care and professionalism. Essential Functions Data Entry, Gift Acknowledgements, and Reconciliation
Manage processing of all financial gifts; assist in valuation and recordkeeping of in-kind donations. Enter gifts into CRM database with appropriate coding and donor information, troubleshooting and soliciting team input when needed.
Work with development staff to produce an accurate and timely gift acknowledgement and tax receipt process, including: preparing customized donor acknowledgement letters, tribute cards, year-end statements and other correspondence in compliance with IRS standards
Batch and report all donations to the finance staff on a timely basis following organization protocols; manage the weekly and monthly reconciliation process to ensure the smooth transfer of data to the finance staff, as well as year-end reconciliation and audit prep as requested.
Manage incoming inquiries about donation recordkeeping and acknowledgements; ensure strong and timely ‘customer service.'
Monitor giving and payment processing platforms such as Benevity, PayPal, Give Butter, Givergy, and Stripe. Facilitate fund transfers and provide documentation as necessary.
Monitor the shared development email inbox for relevant gift information.
Systems and CRM Management
Maintain data quality and integrity by creating and implementing processes and performing regular database de-duping, validations, and cleanup procedures.
Work with development staff to systematize and track research, biographical, and other recordkeeping in addition to financial records.
Provide training and technical assistance to database users
Create and maintain training and help materials on donor database processes and policies
Reporting and Other Operations
Produce accurate queries, reports, and lists needed by development staff and CEO, including campaigns and mailings, events, moves management, prospect tracking, donor trends, analytics, and other tailored reports on a routine and as needed basis.
Help development staff manage dashboards on revenue progress and KPI's.
Maintain accurate records of correspondence and campaigns.
Work with the Manager - Donor Operations to administer the monthly donor program, including making changes to recurring donations as requested by donors.
Communicate proactively to CDO and development staff about donor feedback, trends, and daily operations.
Stay informed and implement new database updates, features, functionality, and best practices in order to guide process improvements.
Assist with coordinating the production of mailing lists for campaign appeals and event invitations.
Prepare materials for distribution, such as copying, filing, mailing, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Work Remotely: Hybrid- This position is expected to work on-site a minimum of 2-3 days per week (or more as needed), based on business needs and at the discretion of the Director of Individual Giving. Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience needed; nonprofit fundraising experience preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a database system
High School or GED required, a Bachelor's degree is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
Knowledge of donor database systems, preferably Bloomerang.
Strong ability to identify user needs, find solutions, and translate technical matters into everyday language
Excellent attention to detail
Highly organized self-starter with an ability to produce high-volume, high-quality data
An ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and set and meet goals and deadlines
Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills; ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
Compassion and understanding of the Center's unique approach to service provision
Cultural Humility
Must be a CA resident and live no more than 80 miles from DWC; must be available for in-person meetings at DWC.
Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.
Pay Range $26 - $28/hour Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable) Being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.
