Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists use computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. A CT Scan Technologist must be able to accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. This role is critical in the overall treatment of our patients, making you an invaluable asset to the Cleveland Clinic system. **A caregiver in this position works weekend nights from 6:30PM - 7:00AM, including 2 holidays per year.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform computerized tomography procedures to aid in diagnosing disease or injury. + Prepare and educate patients for CT exams. + Assess patient's clinical history. + Adjust techniques and protocols on equipment to correspond to patient habitus and pathology. + Research lab values for patient and inject contrast under the direction of Radiologist as required (bolus or power injectors). + Perform exams and transfer results from the CT console to Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS). + Observe patients constantly and respond to any adverse reactions to ensure safety. + Work with referring physicians to ensure the correct exam is ordered and performed for the patient. + Oversee maintenance of equipment to ensure full calibration and complete functioning. + Keep abreast of new developments in field by attending appropriate meetings/seminars and reviewing current literature to maintain required state of Ohio and AART continuing education credits. + Proficiently transfer to other modalities as qualified and/or needed, utilizing proper exam protocols and injection procedures. + Comply with Radiology Information System and PACS entry requirements for accurate patient, film, and supply tracking monitors. + Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. + Maintain applicable certification, licensure and registration. + Assist and support the Radiologic student program by providing supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures, reviewing images with students and providing quarterly evaluations. Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine. **A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) varying shifts, must work a minimum of 4 shifts within a 6-week period with 1 holiday per year and the ability to float to the Mentor location.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures. + Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay. + Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS. + Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam. + Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. + Maintain documentation. + Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator. + Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients, and process billing.
