By joining the OR team an RN, you will cover a variety of services and provide care to both ambulatory patients and inpatients. J5-2 specializes in esophagectomies, thoracotomies, hiatal hernia repairs, bilateral lung volume reduction, open-heart surgery preparation and congenital chest abnormality repairs, conducts procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis and Claggett's Window dressing change, and treats patients for heart failure, chest pain and cardiac arrhythmias. Nurses on this unit commonly use chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, Jejunostomy tubes with tube feeding, Jackson Pratt drains, and PCAs (patient-controlled analgesics).

Epilepsy is a neurological condition involving the brain that makes people more susceptible to having recurrent, unprovoked seizures. Akron General's Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a ten-bed monitoring unit allowing epilepsy specialists to diagnose a seizure problem accurately and design the best possible treatment plan. As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. The Forensic/SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) unit at Cleveland Clinic is staffed by nurses who are specially trained to care for individuals of all ages who have experienced or witnessed any type of violence. This violence may include sexual assault, child abuse, interpersonal violence, elder abuse, or human trafficking.
**This is a PRN position. A caregiver in this role will work between 7:00pm and 3:00am, or 7:00pm and 7:00am. 32 hours per month must be worked.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Collect forensic evidence and/or forensic photography as requested and will maintain a chain of custody for such evidence.
+ Provide enhanced follow-up services, resources and safety plans that are discussed and implemented before the patient is discharged.
+ Perform speculum exams and/or pediatric assessments under the supervision of a LIP.
+ Utilize a thorough knowledge on collecting and managing forensic evidence with a Sexual Assault Exam Collection (SAEC) kit and a Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault kit (DFSA).
+ Interact and collaborate with medical and nursing staff, law enforcement, prosecutors, protective services, advocates and other agencies as needed.
+ Provide court testimony as needed.
+ Participate in an on-call schedule, as determined by SANE coordinator and respond to the designated facility within one hour.
+ Participate in community awareness programs and professional organizations.
+ Travel to other Cleveland Clinic Facilities as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Complete an IAFN approved SANE Adolescent/Adult course within 60 days of hire
+ Complete an IAFN approved SANE Pediatric course within 1 year of hire for incumbents hired after April 1, 2018
