Responsibilities
Performs all functions of Environmental Services Tech in addition to coordinating daily activities of the team; provides guidance and direction to staff to achieve compliance with organizational and unit policies and standards. Will be responsible for housekeeping duties throughout assigned area to ensure the cleanliness of the facilities. Will include public areas, patient rooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, baths and showers, elevators, stairways, exam rooms, laboratories, diagnostic and procedure areas, and exterior entrances. Will also assist with moving furniture and room setups and delivery of patient care items. Typical duties include but are not limited to: dry and wet mopping, wiping off counters and other surfaces, vacuuming, pulling trash, high dusting, edging, cleaning sinks, toilets, showers and tubs, auto scrubbing, bovaccing, extracting carpets, cleaning stairwells, and operating cardboard packer.
Qualifications
HS/GED preferred.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Previous housekeeping experience in a health care facility preferred.

Reports all safety hazards to the EVS Manager or Supervisor as appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT:
Minimum 6 months experience as an Environmental Services Aide or equivalent; experience in a health care environment preferred.
Ability to perform housekeeping duties.
Working knowledge of housekeeping equipment: buff and wax equipment, vacuum, hazardous chemicals and their safe handling
Comprehensive understanding of the English Language; must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic and aesthetically pleasing care environment. This position will have contact with patients, visitors and clinical/non-clinical staff. The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for following basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention.
1. Cleans all assigned areas throughout the facility.
* Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of assigned patient care areas in a timely manner
* Adheres to organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety

3. Operates department equipment.
* Reports any damage or unsafe equipment to Maintenance Services using the work request system
* Empty vacuum bags as needed
* Uses equipment in a safe, orderly manner
4. Other duties as assigned.
* Perform special projects as assigned; Special projects are assigned according to department cleaning schedules when routine tasks are completed
* Report all fire and safety concerns; Ensures all safety practices and guidelines are followed
* Cleans emergency spills as requested in a timely manner
* Ensure doors are locked to the cleaning closets at all times and cleaning carts are not stored in the corridors or hallways unattended

Summary
The EVS Technician will maintain assigned area in a sanitary and orderly condition. Job Description
The EVS Technician will:
Performs general housekeeping responsibilities such as moping, dusting, vacuuming, carpet shampooing and other related duties.
Cleans and polishes sinks, tubs, mirrors and similar equipment; replenishes supplies of soap, towels, toilet paper and other dispensable items.
Strips, buffs and applies wax to floors in designated areas on a routine basis.
Picks up trash and empties wastebaskets from and transports to designated location outside building; cleans waste receptacles.
Cleans and/or chemically disinfects walls, ceilings, windows, radiators and blinds in patient rooms, hallways and other areas.
Moves and arranges furniture/equipment in an orderly fashion. Sets up required meeting and functional rooms.
Maintains outside grounds during summer months and may operate snow plow tractor for snow removal during winter months.
Removes soiled bed linen from assigned areas; makes beds with fresh linen in prescribed manner at patient discharge.
Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Work requires a fundamental level of knowledge such as the ability to follow oral or written instructions and perform simple arithmetic.

Will have contact with patients, their families, and other RIC staff depending on work area and therefore should have appropriate interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
Normal patient care and office environment with exposure to dust, noise, offensive odors and fumes.

Work requires the ability to move and transport objects weighing up to 60 pounds.

2:30pm - 11:00pm - 4 days per week; every 4th weekend

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for general maintenance, functionality, safety and upkeep of all facility-related equipment and property owned or operated by TCA Health, Inc., NFP.
