ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervises, plans, and coordinates the work of multiple crews of skilled and/or semi-skilled workers performing a variety of street and storm sewer construction, maintenance and repair activities.
Assigns crews to work projects; transfers workers from one project to another as workload changes, coordinates the use of available equipment, checks each project for conformance to work plans and makes changes when necessary.
Inspects assigned projects for progress and conformance to work plans. Makes changes in work plans when indicated.
Inspects and analyzes reported problems to determine extent of maintenance and/or repair needs.
Estimates and orders materials for major construction projects.
Assures that appropriate safety procedures are followed on work sites.
Provides training and instruction to subordinates.
Conducts regular and periodic performance reviews of subordinates in conjunction with the Supervisor.
Has input in decisions affecting hiring and disciplining of subordinates.
Inspects project work for compliance with plans, performance standards, and all applicable federal, state, local, and department safety regulations.
Conducts workplace accident investigations on the job site.
Keeps records of labor and materials through work management system.
Reviews, verifies and approves subordinate time worked, approves timesheets and forwards to Timekeeper for processing. Tracks and maintains annual PTO, vacation and sick leave records.
Prepares detailed records and reports in a timely manner.
Required to respond under emergency condition.
Attends work on continuous and regular basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience construction, maintenance, and repair of public works projects, including two (2) years of experience supervising or leading semi-skilled to skilled workers in the performance of street and storm sewer construction, maintenance and repair activities, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
