We are seeking a **_Custodian, Housing Operations_** who will clean office buildings, laboratories, classrooms, and/or outside areas. Custodians also move furniture, appliances and/or equipment. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Cleans, sweeps, vacuums, and polishes floors. Uses various tools, equipment, and cleaning materials to include, but not limited to hand and power scrubbing and polishing equipment, small and large vacuum cleaners, large commercial type buffer, broom, dust brush, dust pan, wet and dry mop, bucket mop wringer, special cleaning solution, and chemical cleaners.
+ Cleans identified or assigned areas/spaces with required cleaners and disinfecting solutions.
+ Cleans walls, windows, window blinds and shades, ceilings, and doors. May work from ladders or scaffolding.
+ Replenishes towels, soap, toilet tissue, linen, and other supplies as required.
+ Inspects exterior and interior of building for service issues and report all damages, malfunctions and needed repairs to supervisor.
+ Removes trash from assigned areas. Moves furniture, miscellaneous equipment, supplies and/or recyclable materials, empties large and small trash containers, removes miscellaneous debris and discarded building materials such as broken plaster, wood, and brick.
+ Removes recyclable materials and maintains appropriate separation.
+ Transports biohazard containers to designated area.
+ Removes snow, ice and debris from building entrances, sidewalks and other areas as required
+ Maintains equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.
+ Observes safety precautions and properly uses equipment and products.
+ Sets up and removes furniture, miscellaneous equipment and supplies required for meetings and special events.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or graduation equivalent preferred.
+ One or more years of experience preferred.
+ Valid Driver's license preferred.
+ Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
+ Ability to read and write such as to be able to read labels on cleaning and detergent materials, disinfecting solutions, and so forth.
+ Ability to operate large powered vacuum cleaners, cleaning and buffing equipment.
+ Ability to interact and/or work with faculty, students, staff, and visitors in a respectful and courteous manner.
+ Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
+ Ability to stand, walk or otherwise move about campus on a continuous basis.
+ Ability to ascend/descend stairs on a regular basis in order to sufficiently clean them.

The Role

THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Perform general housekeeping functions which consist of cleaning the ballpark seating areas, restrooms, concourses and exterior areas as well as other buildings on our campus.
Prepare restrooms for Cubs games and events by performing detailed cleaning of fixtures such as walls, toilets, urinals, sinks and faucets. Stock all dispensers and ensure that all areas are 'fan-ready'.
Monitor restrooms and concourse areas during events. Patrols an assigned section of the ballpark and ensures that cleanliness is maintained to the highest standards at all time
Participate in the organization's commitment to safety by ensuring that floors are free and clear from slip hazards during Cubs games and events. Use appropriate safety signage and mops floors as required
Empty concourse trash and recycling containers before, during and after Cubs games and events.
Patrol the exterior of the ballpark and maintain appropriate levels of cleanliness by sweeping, emptying trash and recycling containers, cleaning up spills and removing graffiti.
Assist the Grounds Crew with field duties such as tarp deployment or removal of the ballpark infield
Report any unruly or customer related issues to command center

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

The Custodian I/II is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe learning and working environment for students and staff. The duties of the Custodian I/II are completed under general supervision and may vary throughout each shift.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sweeps, scrubs, mops, strips, and waxes floors throughout each building.
Operates different types of equipment including, but not limited to scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, etc.
Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks restrooms.
Cleans classrooms, offices, lobbies, and other common areas (including high/low dusting of blinds, ledges, air vents, light fixtures, etc.) on routine basis.
Empties trash and recycling bins throughout each building.
Cleans dry erase boards as needed.
Arranges furniture and equipment and assists with event setup as needed.
May be asked to work inside or outside in varying climate conditions.
Reports signs of damage, vandalism, or any unsafe condition to appropriate staff/leaders.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
Required experience: 0-3 years (Custodian I); 4+ years experience (Custodian II)
General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multi-task when necessary.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions within the scope of the position.
Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to maintain strict organization and student confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, crawling, climbing and reaching for extended periods of time.
Frequent need to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds. Periodic need to exert up to 100 pounds of force and/or perform a two-person lift on objects over 50 pounds.

We are seeking a **_Custodian_** who will clean office buildings, laboratories, classrooms, and/or outside areas. Moves furniture, appliances, and/or equipment. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Cleans, sweeps, vacuums, and polishes floors. + Uses various tools, equipment, and cleaning materials, including but not limited to hand and power scrubbing and polishing equipment, small and large vacuum cleaners, large commercial-type buffer, broom, dust brush, dust pan, wet and dry mop, bucket mop wringer, special cleaning solutions, and chemical cleaners.
