Duties, Responsibilities & Other KCI is hiring a Senior Bridge Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and oversight of bridge projects ranging from highway overpasses to pedestrian walkways. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety, compliance, and innovation in every project. Key Responsibilities: Perform structural analysis and design of bridge components using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, STAAD, Midas). Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Conduct load rating and stress analysis for new and existing structures. Review and check design calculations and drawings prepared by junior engineers. Coordinate with architects, geotechnical engineers, and construction teams. Ensure compliance with AASHTO, DOT, and other relevant codes and standards. Participate in field inspections and condition assessments of bridges. Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders and clients. Qualified candidates will have experience with NCDOT * Essential Duties and Responsibilities are the basic job functions that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. You will work with direct supervision and general direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will assist in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) building systems for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit modeling, preparing design drawings, performing system calculations, ductwork design, piping design, specifying equipment, field survey work, and construction administration. Your Key Responsibilities * Lead the design of utilities, roadway, grading, stormwater/drainage, and other key elements of civil engineering projects * Oversee the design of water, sewer, stormwater/drainage, gas, steam, electrical, and communication-data systems with a focus on conflict avoidance and maintenance or expansion of services * Coach and mentor junior civil engineers on a variety of projects * Coordination with public/private utilities regarding relocations and maintaining systems during construction * Review design drawings, calculations, models, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates for conformance with client standards and industry best practices * Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as Basis of Design documents and memorandums to support the project approval process * Collaborate with team members, other disciplines, and subconsultants * Perform field investigations and construction phase services support * Provide input to project schedule, scope, budget, and staffing assignments Your Capabilities and Credentials * Ability to lead a technical team through all project phases from concept through project close-out during construction * Proven track record successfully delivering work products on time, within budget, and within scope * Pro-active get it done attitude, strong attention to detail, punctual, reliable, and organized * Strong oral and written communication skills in both office and virtual environments * Working knowledge of MassDOT, Massport, and DoD design standards, a plus * Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Pipe Networks * Experience with ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Collector, and AutoCAD BIM for Utility Infrastructure a plus Education and Experience * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required * Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Massachusetts desired but not required * Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in utility system design with project management experience a plus Position will primarily work in an office or virtual setting; may require some field work. Duties, Responsibilities & Other This role will perform structural and geotechnical engineering for marine and waterfront projects. Examples of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design of piers, wharves, and bulkheads including key components such as piles, pile caps, deck, fenders, and mooring bollards/cleats utilizing concrete, steel, timber and composites. Analyze existing structural capacity of deteriorated components to determine remaining capacities. Perform field inspection of existing structures. Perform berthing and mooring analyses. Prepare plans, designs, drawings, specifications, calculations and cost estimates. Work collaboratively with members of all company disciplines as well as external partners. Prepare engineering reports and other technical documents. Provide site visits during construction to ensure compliance with contract documents. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the technical design and engineering required to complete projects or portions of projects within the scope, schedule and budget. Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work; designs a complete project, system, component or process. Assists with the preparation of project scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments; Prepares complete project documents and designs, analyzes and interprets data, and solves technical problems. Assigns tasks to and directs engineers, technicians and administrative staff. Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs. Works collaboratively with internal and external partners on multidisciplinary design/engineering projects.
