La Posada company history timeline
1987: The new owners of the resort subsequently invested some $2 million into renovating the La Posada Inn.
The Santa Fe Railway eventually took over and gutted the building, making it into office cubicles for the railroad’s headquarters until 1993.
Several times over the ensuing 40 years, the building was nearly demolished, as recently as 1994 when the railway announced its plans to move out for good.
Allan and his wife Tina Mion moved in April 1, 1997.
In 1997, La Posada became an independent, stand-alone, not-for-profit community that is unique in Southern Arizona.
Then, in 1997, a Dallas-based real estate firm called “Olympus Corp.,” acquired the destination and invested around $15 million into its complete renovation.
La Posada then joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2013, after another owner—Joseph C. Smith—formally partnered with the organization.
2013: The founder of 1754 Properties—Joseph C. Smith—acquired the resort from its previous owners.
