This is a full-time position with standard work hours of Monday - Friday, 7am-3:30pm, but hours can vary depending on the project time frame. You will report directly to the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.
Every day you are relied on to:
Clean & prepare construction sites as needed or when directed.
Load & unload materials or equipment on-site.
Use power tools and machinery when needed.
Assist other team members (Carpenters, Foreman) on-site.
Follow established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe & clean environment.
To thrive you must:
Have 1-3 years of construction experience preferred, but not required.
Be available to work overtime and possibly weekends.
Be able to read and adhere to labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.
The ability to work well with others is an essential function of this position.
Be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.

The Undergraduate Researcher will support the research activities under the NSF-funded project investigating the varying dynamics of leadership at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), specifically focusing on understanding the impacts of such turnover, cases of excellence, impacts on research capacity and workforce development. Ultimately, developing recommendations for best practices. The student will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and project staff, gaining hands-on experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
* Assist with literature reviews and background research on HBCU leadership, institutional transitions, and STEM education contexts.
* Participate in data collection activities (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups) under supervision.
* Help in organizing, cleaning, and managing research data (qualitative transcripts, quantitative survey data) and maintaining files.
* Contribute to data analysis efforts (e.g., coding qualitative data, assisting with descriptive statistics) and preparation of research summaries.

ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Construction Laborer to perform tasks involving physical labor at building, highway, heavy construction, excavation, and demolition project sites. The Laborer may operate a variety of equipment and instruments.
Job Functions:
Identifies and operates hand and power tools as needed, including air hammers, earth tampers, concrete mixers, small mechanical hoists, saws, power drills, skid steers, forklifts, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards, including rubble and debris.
Controls passing traffic.
Signals Equipment Operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of equipment.
Assists Electrician with loading, transporting, unloading, and furnishing materials, tools and supplies.
Restocks worksite supplies and materials as necessary.
Identifies and follows safe working procedures.
Identifies and stops unsafe work practices that present imminent danger to themselves and others.
Performs other physical labor and responsibilities as assigned, including, but not limited to digging ditches and trenches, backfilling excavations, sealing structural components, measuring and recording areas, unloading and identifying materials, pouring concrete, setting braces to support the sides of excavations.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
2+ years of general construction experience, including exposure to utility work, earthwork, and/or concrete work
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures specific to labor work, including OSHA standards
Knowledge of and ability to use power and hand tools, materials, and other equipment used on construction sites
Knowledge of excavation and backfilling methods, practices, and procedures
Some experience with hoisting and rigging
Some experience with surveying and grading
Ability to work effectively with a team
Ability to communicate clearly

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manually load or unload equipment, materials, or supplies
· Assist with layout of roadway markings.
· Correctly load and secure all loads.
· Drive assigned vehicle/equipment as directed to and from job site. Including daily pre-trip inspections of assigned truck and log keeping, as required. (eligible drivers only).
· Perform roadway preparation, including grinding, sealing, tape removal, as directed.
· Once Flagger certified, assist in traffic control as directed.
· Assist in maintenance of assigned equipment.
· Responsible for maintaining assigned PPE and having proper PPE on hand for scheduled work.
· Participate in all required safety training including weekly Toolbox Talks.
· Clean and organize warehouse, shop, yard, office, and vehicles to maintain a clean, safe work environment.
· Responsible for reporting all incidents you are involved in or witness to the Safety Director as per company training and incident reporting protocols.
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check, motor vehicle report, and drug screen. Random drug screens are also performed post-employment.
· Must possess a current Driver's License; Commercial Driver's License (CDL B) preferred
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule with overtime, nights, and weekends as the job requires
· Must be at least 21-years of age to meet driver's insurance eligibility requirements for company vehicles
· The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.
· Must meet the eligibility requirements of the company Fleet Policy to be a company sanctioned driver.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
