Before the end of 1909, Cole moved to 22 Joy St, where he shared an apartment with James C. McDonald and Charles W. Proctor, both of whom later joined the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
The Greek letter name is thought to have been used from the beginning, but is not recorded in the Alpha Zeta minutes until April 27, 1910.
They issued themselves a charter for Alpha Zeta, back-dating it to November 15, 1911.

The Theta Kappa Nu fraternity was formed by 11 local fraternities on June 9, 1924 in Springfield, Missouri.
With the help of the National Interfraternity Conference in identifying local groups, and Theta Kappa Nu's policy of granting charters quickly to organizations with good academic standards, the fraternity grew quickly, and had approximately 2,500 initiates in 40 chapters by the end of 1926.
In 1927, he became international president when Epsilon-Epsilon Zeta at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada was chartered.
The 14th General Assembly, in 1931, recognized March 22 as Lambda Chi Alpha Day, in recognition of these achievements.
In 1942, the board of directors renamed it Founder's Day.
In 1947, the Alpha Phi Zeta had its first Luau.
In the 1970’s the brothers of Alpha-Phi Zeta suffered personal loss and great joy from a brother that found his way home.
On April 24, 1973, the brothers of the Alpha-Phi Zeta celebrated the home coming of Richard Henry McDow AF 705.
In 1978, Lambda Chi Alpha International Fraternity was invited to colonize at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
The Colony membership completed all requirements for Chapter status in record time, receiving the official Charter as Phi-Sigma Zeta in the Spring Quarter of 1979.
In 1988, the Alpha Phi Zeta lost its last living Founding Father.
1997 -Alpha Zeta initiates its 1200th member.
In October 2015 the fraternity left the NIC, citing in-fighting and dysfunctional governance.
