PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Serves as the Agronomy intern under the direction of the Sales/Marketing Manager, trains and assists with general Agronomy functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Crop Scouting interns will work directly with the area agronomy sales advisor. Main duties of this position is scout fields for weeds, insect and disease pressure, and occasionally take and submit tissue samples. Interns will attend training events and job shadow with account managers, precision ag specialist and other departments within RVC.
What You'll Do:
Participate in Training sessions with our experienced Agronomy Professionals. Including a formal training program facilitated by Winfield. They will complete regular plot visits to discuss weed and disease to watch for that particular time.
Participate in coordinated Field Trips to vendors and suppliers within our industry.
Tour River Valley facilities and learn about all areas within our company (Grain, Feed, Agronomy and Energy)
Work with a Mentor to receive a guided learning experience. Interns will work directly with their mentor daily. They will ride along with them on crop scouting, farm visits, etc. to get a true experience of the day-to-day of a sales agronomist and/or precision ag specialist. They will also shadow sales in our other departments to give a well-rounded experience with other ag sales opportunities (feed, grain and energy).
Join a board meeting to gain insight to their perspective as member-owners, as well as board members.
Represent River Valley at local summer Fairs
Complete an assigned a summer-long project to report on at the close of their internship.
Qualifications
What you'll bring:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Some college coursework completed.
Ag background preferred.
Basic computer skills required.

Working Conditions:

Typical working hours are based on customer and organizational demand; hours may be long, irregular and including weekends and holidays during peak season.

Summary
This is a paid internship at one of two plants located in either Freemont, NE or Eagle Grove, IA.
The 10-week program will start first week of June and run to mid-August. Responsible for performing a variety of tasks within FSQA and Technical Services, ranging from verifications and measurements of manufactured products to assure compliance with all food safety and quality programs to animal welfare. Responsible for making decisions based on quantitative values, temperature, exact measurements, among others.

POSTING DATES: At least five business days SUPERVISOR: Serves as the Agronomy Operations intern under the direction of location management, trains and assists with general Agronomy functions to learn the foundation of the system and industry prepare for future career.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Hands-on experience in agronomy field and operations.
* Assist with facility and equipment maintenance and repair.
* Visit FS locations and customers building professional relationships.
* Operate field research and crop monitoring equipment and technology for scouting.
* Apply crop nutrition and crop protection products.
* Gain understanding and experience with ordering, receiving, and inventory control.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
* Follows GROWMARK's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
* Must be pursuing a degree or certification from a community college, technical college or university and in good academic standing at time the internship begins.
* Must have ability to obtain a CDL and commercials applicator's license with required endorsements, a satisfactory driving record, and valid medical card.
* Demonstrates ability to work independently.
* Demonstrates essential abilities including communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
* Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
* Must be able to travel independently and overnight when necessary.
* Frequently required to lift 51-70 pounds as needed.
* Frequently exposed and required to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, etc.), as well as working at various heights or elevated platforms.
* Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
