Treasure Chest’s annual sales had grown to $555 million and its net income to $4.7 million in fiscal 1993 (the year ended June 30, 1993). It was acquired later in the year by BFP Holdings Corp., a firm based in New York City.
During fiscal 1994 Big Rower Press lost $3.4 million on sales of $647.2 million and ended the year with a long-term debt of $331.9 million, most of it assumed in acquisition costs.
In 1996, the first Excimer laser for ophthalmic refractive use was approved in the United States.
