Illustrative Duties:
Interview applicants and determine if eligibility requirements for established legal services are satisfied. Documents all client case information and related time spent in case management system accurately and timely. Ensure compliance with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) or other grantor requirements.
Communicate with clients to learn about their legal needs and concerns, counsel, advice, and refer them to appropriate public agencies or other community resources for additional services needed. Ensure legal options and possible outcomes or risks are brought to their attention.
Develop and implement strategies to resolve cases favorably. Prepare and review legal documents, such as contracts, dispositions, briefs, oral arguments, and pleadings, accurately and in a timely manner. Research relevant legal materials to aid decision-making, gather and analyze evidence, and identify implications for cases from legal precedents or other legal information.
Negotiate settlement of cases with opposing attorneys or parties and create and maintain relationships with organizations that are commonly community partners or adverse parties where possible to facilitate case resolution.
Attend team meetings and collaborate with other attorneys on case questions.
Develop arguments and represent clients participating in hearings before various courts and administrative bodies for Pasco County. This will include travel to client hearings as necessary at East and West Pasco County Courthouses.

Responsibilities:
Client Advocacy & Representation
Vigorously defend individuals facing criminal charges, including DUIs, domestic violence, sex crimes, drug offenses, theft crimes, violent crimes, probation violations, and federal matters.
Own every stage of the case lifecycle-from intake strategy, probable-cause review, arraignment, discovery, motions, negotiations, trial, sentencing, and appeal (when applicable).
Develop and execute customized defense strategies centered on protecting constitutional rights, preserving futures, and delivering life-changing outcomes.
Apply trauma-informed, client-centered representation that reflects the RLF mission: deliver an extraordinary experience and fight relentlessly for our clients.
Case Management & Legal Preparation
Conduct thorough legal research, analyze discovery, and identify factual and legal vulnerabilities in the State's case.
Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and coordinate expert involvement when necessary.
Draft and file high-quality motions, memoranda, pleadings, and briefs that demonstrate legal depth, clarity, and creativity.
Maintain proactive communication with clients, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and court personnel to keep cases moving efficiently.
Manage deadlines, hearings, and priorities with precision using RLF systems (Salesforce, calendars, internal workflows).
Courtroom Excellence
Appear in court with confidence, professionalism, and mastery of the facts and law.
Deliver persuasive arguments in motion hearings, negotiations, and jury trials while maintaining full control under pressure.
Demonstrate adaptability-thinking fast, adjusting strategy in real time, and maintaining unwavering composure in adversarial environments.
Represent the Rossen Law Firm brand with excellence in every courtroom interaction.
Client Experience & Communication
Build deep trust through transparent, consistent, empathetic communication.
Provide realistic, empowering guidance that helps clients make informed decisions during stressful moments.
Ensure clients feel valued, heard, respected, and supported throughout their entire journey with RLF.
Uphold the RLF commitment to white-glove service and communication excellence, including timely updates and proactive touchpoints.
Team Collaboration & Culture Leadership
Work closely with intake, case managers, paralegals, operations, and fellow attorneys to deliver seamless, coordinated service.
Support and collaborate with leadership (including Gretchel and the Ops Team) to continuously strengthen systems and performance.
Model the RLF Standard and embody the firm's core values in all behavior, decision-making, and interactions.
Foster a culture of positivity, accountability, ownership, and excellence.
Continuous Improvement & Professional Growth
Participate fully in RLF University, mentorship programs, courtroom training, trial skills workshops, and professional development initiatives.
Seek coaching, feedback, and opportunities for mastery in advocacy, legal writing, negotiation, trial work, and client management.
Stay current on legal developments, legislative changes, and continuing legal education requirements.
Contribute ideas that strengthen RLF systems, client experience, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
A licensed Florida attorney with a minimum of 2+ years of hands-on criminal defense experience (trial experience preferred but not required).
