    Temporary Description As a Summer Intern you will assist in creating and implementing lighting solutions that enhance the aesthetics and functionality of interior and exterior spaces. Summer Interns work as part of a multi-discipline team performing lighting design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. You will perform assignments under the direct supervision of one or more senior lighting designers and concentrate on specific design or technical documentation tasks that contribute to overall projects. Assignments will include developing and presenting conceptual lighting design direction, validating the lighting design concept through computer aided visualizations and calculations, developing details to ensure the integration of lighting within the architectural environment, preparing cost estimates, and producing deliverable drawing sets for site plans, lighting plans, schedules, details, lighting control schedules and sequences of operation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assists to design and specify project-appropriate lighting requirements. Coordinates designs with the work of others. Performs Revit modeling and detailing Assists to conduct site investigations and observations. Assists to prepare narratives, reports, hand and computer calculations, presentation renders, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints. Assists to perform cross-discipline discussions and coordination. Additional assignments may include attending client and internal meetings, assisting with performing construction contract administration, and assisting with marketing/business development activities. Requirements Must be working towards graduation of ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering with a lighting emphasis. Knowledge and proficiency with computer software including REVIT MEP is preferred. Knowledge and proficiency using the following software is a plus: 3D modeling software such as SketchUp, Revit, 3DS Max, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Rhino, Grasshopper, DIVA, or Climate Studio; Building energy code analysis software such as COMcheck; Lighting simulation analysis software, such as Iray or AGi32; Knowledge of LightStanza or ElumTools for REVIT Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems. Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team. Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred. JT4 is seeking candidates for our 2026 Summer Internship Program. We offer a 14-week, paid summer internship that allows students to gain valuable career experience at our Edwards Air Force Base, CA. Our interns participate in active projects and explore the career opportunities available in our many highly technical and specialized departments. Many interns develop lasting relationships with their mentors and return for multiple summers. Some interns even continue to work part-time during the school year. Since program inception, over 40 interns have returned to JT4 after graduation to start their professional careers with us.
