Lexington Fire Department company history timeline

1864

In 1864, the Lexington career Fire Department was formed.

1948

One spring day in 1948, a woman named Veda Walker was trapped in a grass fire in Lino Lakes, and her hair and clothes were singed.

1950

The Lexington Fire Department was formally organized on November 11, 1950.

1951

The Lexington Fire Hall was built in the spring of 1951, with proceeds from a bond of $14,000.

1952

In February of 1952, Circle Pines requested a meeting with Lexington to arrange for joint fire protection.

1958

In 1958, the department bought a stripped-down jeep and built a tank and other equipment.

2005

Since 2005 the department has received federal funding through the Assistance to Firefighters grant program allowing us to update several pieces of our equipment including SCBA, Nozzles, Supply hose, pagers and portable radios.
