Louisiana United Methodist Children & Family Services company history timeline

1902

Their desire to provide food, clothing, shelter, and the love of Christ for these orphaned children led to the creation of the Louisiana Methodist Orphanage in 1902.

1904

In 1904 the first residence was opened in Bunkie, Louisiana.

1906

In 1906 the Orphanage was relocated to the Ruston community, which today is our permanent location.

1935

The Superintendent’s 1935 report concluded, “…look to our Heavenly Father in confident hope that some way may be found, so that our great work may survive…”

1958

In 1958, the Board of Directors renamed the Orphanage the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, a name more descriptive of the needs served by the organization.
