Loyola Catholic School company history timeline

1852

15, 1852, as Loyola College is founded by Rev.

1865

The first Catholic school in Mankato was started at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in 1865.

1895

In 1895, a Tudor-style mansion was built by the Garrett family in north Baltimore.

1908

The first Catholic high school in Mankato was founded as Loyola High School in 1908.

1912

In addition, Good Counsel Academy was opened as a boarding school for girls in 1912.

1927

Loyola's official mascot, the Greyhound, was adopted in 1927.

1940

John Ozazewski, a 1940 graduate, and composed by Felice S. Iula, the director of Loyola's glee club at that time.

1988

The Sellinger School receives AACSB Accreditation in 1988—a distinction held by fewer than 10% of business schools nationwide and fewer than 1.5% worldwide.

1990

The story begins in the early 1990’s.

1998

The BSA Fashion Show began at Loyola in 1998 as a campus-wide event to showcase black talent and culture.

2001

Since 2001 Father Sebastian has been making yearly trips to our parish in November to thank everyone for making a parochial education a reality for the children of the Chiche.

In the spring/summer of 2001, Our Lady of Guadalupe School began construction.

2005

In 2005, all students in grade 4 and grade 5 were moved to the Fitzgerald campus to join grades 6-8 who were already at that campus.

2007

Mily, the first principal of the school who visited in November 2007 with Father Sebastian, also expressed her appreciation to the people of St Ignatius.

2008

April 2008: Father Sebastian, who has visited our parish annually for the past 6 years, will be transferred from St Tomas parish (the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe School), effective April 15.

2017

Greyhounds attract national attention as Loyola breaks a Guinness World Record for the largest group crabwalk live on The Today Show on March 30, 2017.
