Provides general support to County departments/staff as needed; transports, collects and distributes mail; stores and distributes supplies and paper goods; assists with pickup/delivery of paper/aluminum recyclable materials; sets up tables/chairs for meetings/activities; assembles furniture/equipment. Assists in maintaining security of County buildings/facilities; locks/unlocks buildings/offices as appropriate; conducts safety checks during shifts; turns off lights, copiers, and other office equipment not in use; reports problems such as water leaks, power failures, malfunctioning equipment, property damage, or other potential problems involving building operations. Receives products/supplies delivered for all County facilities; unloads materials and shifts to appropriate storage areas; transports/delivers furniture, equipment, and supplies to County departments. Performs special projects; responds to after-hours calls or emergency situations as needed. Assignment to the Senior Services Department may include the following additional duties: Responsible for properly storing equipment and reporting any damage or facility problems to the program coordinator. Must leave facilities in clean and working condition. Must be on time to scheduled events and keep track of scheduled class times and dates. Meet with the program coordinator to review rental schedules. Maintain a safe environment and remain present until the last person leaves the facility. Ensure that the facility is locked, and alarm set prior to leaving the premises.     GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB This classification will conduct various routine and semi-skilled maintenance tasks at city parks and recreational, and city-owned facilities. Monday through Friday with a shift start time as early as 7am. Some weekends and nights required. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions: • Serve as primary point of contact to share information, scheduling, updates, concerns, and priorities between the supervisor and crew. • Conduct maintenance and construction tasks for various parks and city-owned facilities. • Resurface and renovate playgrounds, fields, and courts. • Paint buildings, equipment, and parking lots. • Repair and assemble fences. • Conduct light plumbing. • Operate or use various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies to complete work assignments. • Communicate with supervisor, other employees, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. • Conduct a variety of landscaping duties. • Mow grass, plant flowers and shrubs, edge curb lines, and weed eat around signs and fence lines. • Clear leaves, tree limbs, and other debris from park areas. • Spread and haul ground cover, dirt, and mulch. • Operate a city vehicle as needed. • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections including checking all fluids, gauges, lighting, mirrors, tires, body damage, seats and seatbelts, and cleanliness of assigned vehicle. • Process a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations within designated timeframes and per established procedures. • Receive and review various documentation including work orders. • Conduct general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition. • Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies. • Initiate orders materials and equipment needed for each job. • Conduct routine safety inspections on equipment. • Provide direction, training, and assistance to employees on an assigned project. • Coordinate daily work activities. • Organize and prioritize project tasks. • Make work assignments and evaluate work. • Monitor status of work. • Troubleshoot problems and situations. • Perform the duties of supervisor in absence of same. • Advise supervisor of needed repairs. • Ensure compliance with all applicable code, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. • Write daily reports for each employee to complete tasks each day. • Ensure adherence to established safety procedures. • Monitor work environment and use of safety equipment. • Conduct general custodial duties as various parks and city-owned facilities. • Clean parks, ball fields, restrooms, kitchens, and other areas. • Vacuum carpets, scrub, and wax floors. • Dusts, wash windows, and empty trash. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING • High School diploma or equivalent is required. • One (1) year of experience in parks and grounds maintenance. • A valid state driver's license with acceptable driving history is required. Painting and minor building repairs, including changing light bulbs, basic plumbing, etc. Completes and maintains maintenance related logs, documentation related to maintenance actions, parts usage, etc. Maintain floors in the warehouse as needed. General labor and housekeeping duties. Maintain grounds as required, including cleaning sidewalks, emptying trash receptacles, equipment cleaning, snow/ice removal, etc. Assists Maintenance Mechanics as needed. Performs duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of six months to one year experience in a maintenance environment with demonstrated knowledge and proficiency. Ability to stand the duration of the shift and work in climates. Familiar with basic hand tools Must become comfortable with working at different heights as needed Familiar with OSHA / NFPA standards. Maintains safe work practices at all times including wearing PPE and using LOTO.
