Under general supervision the Street Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled tasks in the construction and maintenance of city streets, trails, parking structures, ROW maintenance, concrete structures, storm water features and other areas as assigned. Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: * Routinely inspects facility, troubleshoots and makes repairs to the mechanical, electrical, air conditioning and plumbing systems, as well as any structural elements on the property * Perform a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property including, but not limited to, painting, drywall, structural elements, including parking lot and sidewalks, plumbing repairs, clears drain stoppages, interior and exterior lighting including lamp, fuse and ballast replacement * Operate a variety of equipment to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs and maintain cleanliness of property * Assist other departments, including but not limited to, Marketing to setup events and Local Leasing with placement and repair of carts * Perform the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines (i.e. OSHA standards) to promote a safe working environment * Schedule and preform preventive maintenance programs as assigned by management. * Ensure the appropriate inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment and tools are maintained * Periodically inspect air handling units, tighten or replace belts, replace filters and grease components. Maintain logs to document activity * Performs exterior custodial duties as needed. May include sweeping sidewalks, wet mop sidewalks, operate steam cleaner, operate hand vacuum. Gather trash and empty trash receptacles; operate compactor and turn trash carts * May perform additional maintenance duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma or GED preferred. Technical School certifications and/or training preferred * Minimum 2-3 years building maintenance experience performing some carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing functions * Ability to read and interpret documents, plans and schematic drawings and comprehend instructions. Ability to effectively present information to departmental management, employees, tenants, and outside contacts * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to define problems, collect information and establish facts. * Paint, electrical, plumbing, and drywall skills * Self-starter with ability to work independently * Capability to diagnose problems on equipment * Knowledge of basic electrical systems * Knowledge of safety rules, hazards and application of accident prevention measures * Basic knowledge of fire protection hydraulic system and fire protection alarm systems * Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays * Valid Driver's License * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds #ZR2

Performs grounds maintenance and landscaping duties on campus properties. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Cuts lawns; trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs. Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides; rakes and loads leaves. Cleans grounds and removes litter; removes weeds from various campus locations. Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; waters lawn and shrubs. Performs weed eating duties. Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts. Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears. Performs custodial and other indoor laborer duties, as needed. Delivers specialized items, as needed. Completes work orders, as assigned. Cares for and maintains ornamentals; identifies pest problems and eradicates problems. Operates, cleans, repairs and services all equipment used in grounds maintenance such as mowers, spreaders, tractors/trailers, front-end loaders, fork trucks, blowers, trimmers, and a variety of hand/power tools. Installs sidewalks and walkways, as needed. Constantly monitors surroundings and health hazards and reports same to supervisor. Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite. Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards, policies and guidelines. Uses interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and customers. Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Texas Southmost College ( TSC ). Supports the values and institutional goals as defined in the College's Strategic Plan. Participates in the development of outcomes, monitors assessment of those appropriate outcomes, and assists in the development of plans of action for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes. Participates in the process for systematic review and evaluation per the institutional effectiveness model adopted by the College. Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events. Performs other duties as assigned.
