Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED equivalent. * At least three (3) years of directly related restaurant cooking and/or baking experience, which demonstrates a working knowledge of high-volume food and bakery production, food service production, food service positions, equipment, and supervisory techniques. * Must have an Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification or obtain upon hire. * Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements, which may include but are not limited to: drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test. Completes related reports as required. * Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff. * Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. * Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code. * Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed. * Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving. * Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action. * Attends all staff meetings and training as required. * Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention. * Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests. * Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities. * Phase 1 * Tread water for 2 minutes * Swim 100 yards front crawl * Phase 2 * Swim 50 yards(2 laps) of each stroke-Front crawl with head up, sidestroke, breaststroke, breaststroke with head up, elementary backstroke kick with hands on chest. * Perform a feet first surface dive in 6-7 feet of water, then swim underwater for 15 feet NOTE: This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions. Physical Demands: * Ability to pass lifeguard water test. * Must be able to remain alert. * Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. * Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals. * Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision. * Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue. * Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
