Mansfield Christian School company history timeline

1972

In subsequent years, the school experienced four building expansions that included additional classrooms, a gymnasium, athletic fields, and a student-run radio station, WVMC-FM. By 1972 the first graduating class with nineteen students received their diplomas.

1980

With a solid academic program meeting state standards in place, the Lord opened the doors to expand our outreach opportunities in the 1980’s.

1981

Mission trips and service projects became a focus for MCS. Students and families set a world’s record washing cars in 1981 in an effort to fund the starting of a Christian school in the Dominican Republic.

1990

In the 1990’s, the Lord stirred the hearts of our people toward a closer walk with Him.

2006

With the advent of the Ohio EdChoice program in 2006, the pace of building expansion became accelerated.

2006 Modular classroom units were purchased to temporarily accommodate increased enrollment

2007

Desperately needing space for our early childhood program while the new addition was under construction, the school entered into a lease-to-own agreement in August, 2007.

Left vacant by the Mansfield City Schools, the Ranchwood Elementary school building became available to purchase in the summer of 2007.

2008

As planned, the new Early Childhood Wing opened in the fall of 2008 and the expansion has been a tremendous blessing for the school.

2010

2010 Lights are installed on the varsity soccer field and the first game under the lights was played by the alumni in August.

2011

A short-term note of $1.2 million was paid off in December of 2011 and a long term note of $2.2 million extends over twenty years.

MCS celebrated its 50th year anniversary in 2011 and it was an amazing year.

2011 The HS gym floor is completely redesigned and the court is named in memory of Keith Clark.

2011 The Ranchwood School property, now vacant, is sold to a local charter school.

2014

2014 The Varsity Boys Soccer Team won the school's first ever State Championship in November.

2014 MCS was named "One of the 50 Best Christian High Schools in America" by the BestSchools.org

2016

2016 MCS creates a new comprehensive K-12 STEM program to focus on job market skills in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

2019

2019 MCS develops one of the first PreK-12 Student Discipleship Plans for Christian schooling; defining and documenting the spiritual formation process at MCS.

2020

2020 After 40 years of operation, WVMC is sold to another Christian radio ministry, Shine FM.

2020 A new Media Production Department is created to expand student skills in the media industry beyond radio broadcasting and service the school’s advancement efforts.
