    The Behavioral Health Specialist works under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor/Manager and is responsible for providing case management services to a diverse clientele of children and families with mental health and substance use diagnoses. Services may be provided via telehealth, outpatient offices, and/or community-based settings. Essential Functions: Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of OhioGuidestone every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics. Monitor client symptoms as well as response to treatment; communicate changes with treatment team to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions Develop and maintain a service relationship with client, family, and caregivers to provide them support as appropriate. Coordinate community resources including school, referral sources and outpatient behavioral health providers to ensure continuity of care; acts as an advocate for the client as needed. Provide crisis intervention consultation in times of emergencies for coordination and assistance in crisis management and stabilization as needed. Facilitate appointments to ensure overall physical well-being including basic, mental health and substance use needs. Review Diagnostic Evaluation and additional assessments, to aid in the ongoing development and implementation of a client's individualized treatment plan (ITP). Attend and participate in agency/ team/clinical meetings, including mandatory trainings, and treatment coordination. Perform related administrative responsibilities; maintain client information, reports, records, and other documents; respond timely to emails and phone calls; attend and participate in various trainings and meetings; communicate with other agencies, departments, and vendors regarding required paperwork, contract compliance and consult with other county agencies and/or supportive services as necessary. Accurately and promptly, document and maintain the confidentiality of client and family interactions including, legal, financial, and clinical documentation within agency guidelines. Meet with Supervisor for weekly supervision. Maintain ongoing frequent contact with other assigned OhioGuidestone professionals, parents or outside agency professionals assigned to case. Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required. Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and a culture of belonging. Present the Agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts. * Therapeutic Behavioral Service (TBS) service activities include, but are not limited to the following: (a) Consultation with a licensed practitioner or an eligible provider, to assist with the individual's needs and service planning for individualized supports or care coordination of healthcare, behavioral healthcare, and non-healthcare services and development of a treatment plan; (b) Referral and linkage to other healthcare, behavioral healthcare, and non-healthcare services to avoid more restrictive levels of treatment; (c) Interventions using evidence-based techniques; (d) Identification of strategies or treatment options; (e) Restoration of social skills and daily functioning; and, (f) Crisis prevention and amelioration. Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent Three years relevant experience and able to demonstrate competencies in basic behavioral health skills, for example: Understanding of human behavior, mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and impact on functioning and behavior. understanding how to therapeutically engage a mentally ill person, concepts of recovery/resiliency understanding of the mental health system; de-escalation techniques Understanding of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emotional and mental dysfunctions. Understanding of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins. Relevant experience or course of study in behavioral healthcare helpful Qualifications: Mission driven; strong desire to make an impact Effective interpersonal skills; able to speak effectively with individuals and/or groups of people Ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgment Flexible; able to work days, evenings, and/or weekends, as desired to meet the needs of clients Strong organizational skills; able to handle multiple priorities with strict attention to detail and perform work independently. Through this program, Crisis Response Specialists assist police officers with situational de-escalation and crisis intervention as co-responders. BHU resources also provide emergency responders with additional options to divert individuals to behavioral health resources as an alternative to incarceration which have not been readily available in the past. BHU members cultivate and maintain professional relationships with organizations in the community that provide behavioral health resources to direct and refer individuals to the appropriate community resources. These resources could include in-patient and outpatient mental health and SUD services, respite care, primary care clinics, and other support services. BHU members work closely with the department's Community Outreach Coordinator addressing individuals in crisis due to homelessness. BHU members also assist the department's Community Outreach Coordinator in following up on individuals who are in the Therapeutic Court program. In addition to responding with officers to incidents, the Crisis Response Specialists have access to view pending police calls for service within the computer-aided-dispatch system.     The Social Work Intern at The Friendship Place will gain hands-on experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in an Adult Day Training (ADT) setting. This internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to case management support, program planning, documentation, advocacy, and community resource coordination in a supportive, inclusive environment. The intern will work closely with staff and participants to support daily programming, enhance quality of life outcomes, and develop practical social work skills aligned with ethical and professional standards. Key Responsibilities Direct Support & Participant Engagement ● Assist with daily activities and group programming for adult participants ● Support social, emotional, and life-skills development in a group setting ● Observe and assist with behavior support strategies as appropriate ● Encourage independence, choice-making, and positive social interactions Case Management & Documentation ● Assist with maintaining participant files, notes, and logs (under supervision) ● Observe and support documentation practices aligned with APD standards ● Learn proper confidentiality, HIPAA, and professional documentation protocols ● Participate in staff meetings and case discussions as appropriate Program & Activity Support ● Assist in planning and facilitating recreational, educational, and life-skills activities ● Support themed programming, community outings, and special events ● Help adapt activities to accommodate varying abilities and support needs Advocacy & Community Resources ● Assist with identifying and compiling community resources for participants and families ● Support referrals and follow-up under staff supervision ● Observe advocacy efforts related to services, inclusion, and participant rights Professional Development ● Receive weekly supervision and feedback ● Complete learning objectives required by academic program ● Observe ethical decision-making and interdisciplinary teamwork ● Reflect on experiences through journaling or assignments as required by school Learning Opportunities Interns will gain experience in: ● Adult Day Training programming ● Working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities ● Person-centered planning and strengths-based approaches ● Professional documentation and compliance standards ● Program development and group facilitation ● Ethical practice and professional boundaries Qualifications ● Currently enrolled in a BSW or MSW program (or related human services field) ● Interest in working with adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities ● Strong communication and interpersonal skills ● Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor ● Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries ● Reliable transportation preferred Physical & Environmental Requirements ● Ability to engage in group activities and assist participants as needed ● Ability to remain on feet for portions of the day ● Occasional lifting or assisting (with accommodations if needed) Supervision & Evaluation ● Intern will receive regular supervision ● Performance evaluations will be completed as required by the academic institution ● Learning objectives will be tailored to meet school requirements

    Job Description The primary role of the Behavioral Health Clinician is to provide high quality diagnostic assessment for clients in Homefull programs. The Behavioral Health Clinician should function as part of the team in the programs to which they are assigned, and collaborate with case management & supervisory staff to meet the mental health needs of the clients, in order to increase client stability and success in housing.
