The Ride Maintenance Mechanics perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and annual rehabilitation of a variety of different amusement rides and attractions. Areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to) maintenance of: gearboxes, chains, sprockets, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, wire rope, hoists, brakes, pumps, and large bearings. OCTA is seeking skilled Mechanics to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair CNG, hydrogen fuel cell, and battery-electric transit buses. You'll troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to keep our fleet running safely and efficiently. The starting pay rate for this position is $33.87 an hour. Pay rate increases incrementally according to the union contract. Current top wage is $43.50 after 36 months. Employees that work swing and graveyard shifts are eligible for a shift differential of 3% or 5% of their base pay, respectively. $3 more per hour can be obtained for completion and maintaining the H Series and L2 ASE certifications, with the potential to earn an extra $1 per hour for bidding into a Master Transit Bus Technician slot for a total of up to an extra $4 an hour on top of the base pay.
