This could mean either a MS or PhD in a quantitative field with at least 5 years experience in a business environment, or BS or Data Science Bootcamp graduate with at least 8 years of experience working as a data scientist or a machine learning engineer in a business setting. Proven experience in credit risk modeling or fraud risk modeling using logistic regression, random forest, Xgboost or neural networks, along with a strong understanding of AI-based approaches and the potential of LLMs to enhance traditional models. Experience applying a variety of statistical and modeling techniques using Python, R or another statistical modeling language, as indicated by familiarity with many of the following techniques - predictive modeling, anomaly detection, ensemble methods, natural language processing (NLP, optional). Basic understanding of LLMs and their applications. Essential Duties • Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a “Safety First” mindset in all tasks. • Learn and apply the company's mechanical design standards, drafting practices, and manufacturing processes. • Assist in the selection of mechanical materials and components (e.g., enclosures, mounting hardware, brackets, bus supports, cooling components, fasteners) under the guidance of senior engineers. • Help create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for mechanical components and assemblies in the MRP/ERP system for specific projects. • Assist in developing and revising 3D models and 2D drawings (e.g., sheet metal parts, welded assemblies, mounting plates, structural frames) using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar. • Prepare and update technical documentation, including assembly drawings, detail drawings, exploded views, and work instructions to support manufacturing and assembly. • Support engineers in reviewing project specifications and customer requirements to ensure mechanical designs meet dimensional, environmental, and structural criteria. • Assist with basic cost analysis and value engineering, such as comparing material options, simplifying designs, and identifying opportunities to reduce cost and improve manufacturability under supervision. • Support prototyping, fit checks, and mechanical testing activities, documenting findings, nonconformances, and design updates. • Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and continuous improvement activities with engineering, production, and quality teams. • Perform other related duties and small mechanical engineering tasks as assigned to support ongoing projects. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities • Foundational understanding of mechanical design principles, including statics and strength of materials. • Familiarity with mechanical components and fabrication methods, such as sheet metal, machined parts, welded assemblies, and fasteners. • Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar) and the ability to create parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings (coursework or project experience acceptable). • Understanding of or willingness to learn relevant industry standards and practices, such as GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability (DFM). • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); exposure to MRP/ERP systems is a plus. • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to ask questions, seek feedback, and learn from senior engineers. • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and 3D models and relate them to physical parts and assemblies. • Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting design decisions and collaborating with cross-functional teams. • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple small tasks across different projects. • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to take direction and work independently on well-defined tasks. Required / Preferred Education • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering Technology). • Completion of core coursework in statics, strength of materials, machine design is preferred. Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Analyst to join our Process Pressure Vessels team. This role would participate as part of a dynamic team in the engineering analysis, condition assessment, and life prediction of pressure vessels, piping, and auxiliary equipment used in upstream and downstream petroleum refining, petrochemical, and chemical industries. The position requires the individual to develop the skills to manage and coordinate the technical and administrative aspects of the work. They are expected to actively participate in both internal and external training and development programs. This position will be based in our Denver, CO office. Responsibilities and Qualifications: Technical: Assist senior staff with evaluations related to design, life assessment, and root cause failure analysis of pressure vessels, piping, and other equipment. Perform thermal heat transfer and structural stress analysis of pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, and other plant structures using both classic and finite element analysis methods. Knowledge in fluid mechanics is preferred. Perform simple pressure vessel calculations using commercial software such as PV-Elite and/or Compress. Develop a working knowledge of fatigue, corrosion, and crack initiation and growth mechanisms and fracture mechanics concepts employed for serviceability assessment of damaged or flawed components. Gain broad experience with materials, welding, and nondestructive examination techniques. Assist with field inspections of plant equipment. Assist with the preparation of written technical reports and presentations. Assist in fast paced engineering assessments that are project critical.
