California Animal Rehabilitation (CARE) is an integrative, holistic animal rehabilitation clinic housed in an 8,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility in west Los Angeles. We see mostly dogs, some cats, and the rare exotic small animal. Treatment modalities employed include: acupuncture, animal physical rehabilitation, underwater treadmill, pool swims, cold laser, "red" (wound healing) laser, ultrasound, pulsed signal therapy, tPEMF, acupuncture, western and Chinese herbology, homeopathy, electronical stimulation, massage, etc. We are a full-scale facility with rehabilitation, orthotic and cart fittings, preventative fitness, boarding, and grooming available in-house. Our unique treatment model pairs Doctors of Physical Therapy certified in canine rehabilitation with veterinarians certified in acupuncture and canine rehabilitation. We are a busy emergency and specialty hospital with high case load. Boarded specialists, experienced emergency clinicians, and interns are all involved in teaching visiting students. Veterinary Students participate directly with our clinicians in case management. Ideal Candidates are: • Veterinary students in good academic standing at an AVMA accredited school of Veterinary Medicine. • Looking for experience in an emergency and specialty practice • Hard-working, motivated, friendly, and team oriented • If you are considering an internship following graduation (particularly if you are considering application to IndyVet's internship program) this would be a great learning opportunity Externship Orientation: Once scheduled, student externs will receive an orientation packet including mentorship, expectations, and schedule. Externs are expected to attend daily case rounds, as well as any grand rounds, journal club, and lectures that occur during their time with us. Any extern that is scheduled for 4 or more weeks is also required to give a case presentation for IndyVet staff. This usually occurs as a lunch presentation. Additional Information: Housing On-site housing is available if needed. Accommodations are provided at no charge to our externs. Stipend Externs are allotted $250 each week of their externship to cover expenses. Charleston Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC) is a busy emergency and multi-specialty hospital in Charleston, SC with a collaborative and patient-forward approach to care, and a welcoming and supportive environment. An externship experience at an Ethos hospital like CVRC gives students real-life clinical experience in multi-specialty hospital, and the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills while working alongside experienced clinicians, board-certified specialists, and skilled technical staff. Students are welcomed to take an active role in making their time at CVRC exactly what they want - we encourage externs to ask questions, participate in all-hospital and departmental patient rounds, select topic rounds with specialists, and attend in-house continuing education lectures if occurring.
