Midwest Equipment was founded originally as Cates Brothers Texaco Service in January of 1951.
1957 Cates Brothers Texaco Service was discontinued and Midwest Nursery and Equipment was formed.
1962 the business was divided; with Bill Cates continuing with the nursery and bowling supplies business and Ben Cates continuing with the lawn and garden retail and wholesale business under the name of Midwest Equipment & Supply Co.
In 1975, Midland community members under the leadership of George T. Abell created the Museum to tell the story of petroleum and the lives of the people in the industry through history.
1993 – The distributorship is purchased by CEO, Jim Sramek
2019 – Acquired a 39-county Taylor territory in Western Kansas, formerly part of Taylor of the Rockies
