For more information, visit ************* Responsibilities The Environmental Service Technician is responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings, which may require traveling from one facility to another without assistance. Respond to and initiate communication by phone, handheld radios, pagers etc. Qualifications Education and Work Experience One (1) year of knowledge within acute care hospital environmental service techniques, practices and procedures preferred. JOB SUMMARY The OHS Technician is responsible for administering respirator fit testing, audiometric testing, drug & Alcohol Testing, and pulmonary function testing. In addition, the OHS Technician is a vital part of the OHS program as a whole. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintain a working knowledge of all testing equipment which includes but not limited to respirator fit machines, pulmonary function machine, audiometry machine, and breath alcohol machines. Calibrate all equipment at the beginning of each day in accordance with manufacturer's requirements. Additional calibrations may be required at other times according to manufacturer's specifications. Inspect and repair all equipment as necessary. Conduct periodic surveys of equipment and stations so that all safety and hygiene hazards to customers and Technicians are identified and corrected. Complete all the administrative steps applicable to the equipment so that all required information is verified and properly recorded. Administer respirator fit tests in full compliance with CFR 1910.134 Respiratory Protection Standard. Administer all drug and alcohol collections in full compliance with 49 CFR Part 40 standards. Maintain and develop customer relationships by responding to questions, concerns, and requests from customers with speed and professionalism. Thoroughly disinfect and inspect each respirator upon completion of each test Insure all customer data and paperwork is kept confidential at all times Keep up to date with relevant safety topics, software and lecture and online training technology Up to date in NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) and CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation) certifications Up to date in all drug and alcohol testing certifications and courses Strive to maintain personal drug testing procedures that are flawless - undergo mandated remediation within 30 days of error notification. Respond to after-hour calls as needed Requirements SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Customer service skills are required. Spot clean walls, windows and polish metal surfaces. Vacuum carpet/sweep/mop in patient rooms and other areas. Spot clean carpet as assigned. Assist in cleaning of emergency spills, observed or upon request. Demonstrate the correct use of chemicals and supplies. Replenish supplies. Input bed tracking and other required information into the computer daily or as needed. Learn and apply the principles of regular discharges with a 30-minute turnaround. Learn and apply the principles of terminal cleaning with a 55 min turnaround. Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
