Responsibilities
The paramedic is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department. He / She communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient's clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies.
Qualifications
Current and valid paramedic license issued by the State of Ohio. Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current. PALS and/or ENPC required 30 days upon hire and maintain current. Minimum of one year as a paramedic in an EMS or in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.

Non OB facilities: NRP 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

**Responsibilities**
Provide advanced life support for critically ill/injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the transport team.
+ Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility as part of the transport team in collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse.
+ Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
+ Contact receiving medical personnel, report observations and follow directives.
+ Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
+ May be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies.
**Requirements**
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
+ One or more of the following required:
+ Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
