Assisting the oncologists with all aspects of care within scope of practice. This is an integral position within the oncology department to help provide the very best care possible to our patients. This position also provides front Desk coverage in oncology as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews the patient condition and identifies radiation specific issues that are then directed to the appropriate medical staff.
Discuss and answer questions regarding patient care plan with patient, family, or significant other.
Implements patient care plan by coordinating patient care as directed by the Oncologist based on professional standards and protocols. Identifies patient and family care needs as they develop through therapy and appropriately responds with care and information to the patient and family.
Documents all patient care in the patients' medical record as appropriate and ensures the distribution of the findings to the appropriate clinicians.
Assists the Oncologist with procedures and examinations as directed by the physician which may include drawing blood for laboratory testing (within scope of practice) in accordance with hospital and laboratory procedures.
Assists with pre-registering patients for scheduled admissions and outpatient procedures, obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.
Assists with obtaining signature on Conditions of Admission and initiating the Advanced Directive process.
Schedules referrals and obtain prior authorization for imaging, procedures and referrals to outside providers. Obtains prior authorizations for PET scans as well as radiation therapy procedures/treatments. Assists to maintain a well-balanced PET schedule.
Coordinates care with dietician and social worker as needed
Assists with prescription refills.
Assists with process of ordering, prior authorization and scheduling of injectable medications. Assists with arrangements for outside facility.
Assists with necessary patient-related FMLA and STD paperwork.
Practices center-wide and department radiation safety policies and procedures within the as Low as Reasonably Achievable principle.
Maintains a safe, neat, orderly and supplied work area.
Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
A lab/ pharmacy runner delivers medication and specimens from one area of the building and delivers it to the other areas of TCI.
Picking up specimens: Collecting lab specimens from designated locations within a hospital and delivering them to the main lab.
Documenting specimens: Recording the location of specimens and keeping track of how many are collected in different areas.
Performs other duties as required.
Is cross-trained at front desk duties.
Checks MVH email as per protocol.
Attends all other meetings as required.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent Current BLS Certification. Valid driver's license. Graduation from an accredited Health Sciences program or higher. Current BLS Certification. Valid CMA or CNA certificate/license

Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or higher. Valid Certificate Phlebotomist, Certificate, CertifiedNursingAssistant Valid driver's license.
