Position Summary
System Float Pool RN's support the Puget Sound area adult hospitals filling a vital role taking assignments providing coverage for open shifts, leave of absences, call outs or surges in census. The RN-Float Pool provides clinical nursing care to assigned patients, performing related assessments, procedures and treatments, evaluations, patient care plan development/revisions, and education to patient and/or family. Position Summary
The RN Clinical Expeditor assigns bed placement for patients requiring admission to acute care and critical care units to all Multi Care Health System IBUs. The RN Clinical Expeditor performs chart reviews, clarifies bed criteria and works in collaboration with Physicians and Specialists from Emergency Departments, direct admits, inter-facility, and inter-unit transfers for consultation and/or acceptance. The Clinical Expeditor collaborates with an interdisciplinary team and other facilities to define, reduce and eliminate barriers within the system which may impede patient flow.
Responsibilities
You will serve as a leader and resource to facilitate efficient patient flow activities throughout the hospital in accordance with internal policies and procedures
You will direct the flow of patient admissions, discharges and transfers and assure staffing levels are maintained at adequate levels to support patient census
You will evaluate and negotiate appropriate placement, prioritizing according to current census, staffing situations, and knowledge of patient acuity
You will keep detailed data on deferred and delayed patient admissions, providing updates on patient placement needs or issues
You will collaborate with medical staff to help determine the appropriate level of care and maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or obtained within five (5) years from the initial date of hire; RN with 15+ years of service or internal candidates hired before January 1, 2021 may be considered in satisfaction of this requirement in lieu of an education agreement
Current RegisteredNurse license in Washington State or Multistate License endorsement (MLS)
Current BLS Certification required
ACLS certified or must become certified within 6 months of employment
Five years recent clinical experience in a tertiary acute care setting required
Emergency Room or Critical Care experience preferred
