The Food Service Worker position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, or serving duties in a commercial hotel food service area. This position will support food service operations at the Kuik Cafe in Bethel, AK at the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge.
_This is a rotational position in Bethel, AK. The rotation schedule will be 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off. Lodging and three meals per day provided. The point of hire origins are Anchorage, AK at the YKHC Service Area._
Responsibilities
+ Washes food service area objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
+ Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.
+ Cleans, sweep, mop and wipe down all general food service areas and equipment.
+ Removes garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, etc.
+ May assist cooks or others as needed and coordinates one's own activities with other food service activities and requirements.
+ Properly, safely and efficiently prepare food products while following standard food-handling procedures.
+ Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
+ May maintain a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.
+ May stock storage areas with various products.
+ Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
+ Some experience which demonstrates a working knowledge of food preparation and/or working with commercial kitchen equipment.
+ The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, callouts, etc.
+ Food Handler card, Alaska Food Workers card, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
+ Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Preferred Qualifications
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
+ Some prior experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of cleaning equipment/processes or a suitability for and interest in this type of work, preferred.

Cleans and sanitizes work areas and performs heavy-duty cleaning task throughout the food service and related areas.
Demonstrates understanding of infection control procedures through preparation techniques, food handling, storage and personal hygiene habits.
Reports faulty equipment to supervisor; labels, dates, stores, and rotates food to ensure safety; and exercises HACCP principles; performs other cleaning task (i.e. cleaning refrigerator, oven,work tables, walls) that are assigned, using proper cleaning agents and protective gear.
Collects and removes bins of trash to designated area. Returns trash bins to kitchen and cleans and sanitizes as needed.

The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen; nutritional menu planning; cooking; establishing cleaning and maintenance schedules; maintaining high sanitation standards; and maintaining accurate inventory of dietary supplies and household equipment.

Essential Functions
Prepare all meals under the direction of the Division Director
Responsible for providing healthy and unique meals in a family style setting and providing a high-quality vegetarian option at all times.
Plan and write house menus to include alternate menus for special diets and ensure that they are followed.
Post menus and nutritional information on bulletin boards located in the kitchen area, office area and community area in accordance with Personal Care Home Licensing Codes.
Plan and control special diets.
Estimate food consumption in determining type and quantity of foods to be prepared.
Order all food and house supplies on a weekly basis in a fiscally responsible manner.
Sign for all food deliveries and check order for accuracy.
Ensure that all meals are ready and served on time.
Ensure that all food served is attractive, palatable and nutritious.
Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen area and delegate different areas of sanitation to residential and housekeeping staff.
Maintain the cleanliness of refrigerators and freezers and ensure that all food is properly covered and stored.
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in proper working condition and in compliance with Personal Care Home Licensing Codes.
Assume the responsibility for planning special functions with the Division Director, Program Supervisor and/or Program Coordinator.

Essential Job Functions
Execute Ladder 13's Steps of Service in accordance with desired timing flow.
Have a comprehensive understanding of the food and beverage menu so that you can answer questions, address allergy concerns, and suggestively sell.
Promptly and accurately input orders into Toast (our POS) ensuring timely and accurate flow to the kitchen team.
During times the Server is operating without a food runner, ensure that the food and beverage selections are presented in accordance with kitchen and bar standards before you bring the items to the guests. But when operating with a Runner, ensure food and beverage are correct when placed on the table.
Regularly return to the table to check on guests in accordance with the Steps of Service.
Read the table and act accordingly: is it a meeting and guests don't want to be interrupted? Is someone not eating an item? Respond accordingly.
Assist bartenders or other servers as needed. Ladder 13 is NOT a silo'd restaurant and bar. We help each other.
Performs side duties such as cleaning, rolling silverware, setting tables, sweeping, etc
Maintains restaurants/station in a clean and presentable manner at all times
Complies with all health and safety regulations
Experience and Education:
Experience as server in hotels, restaurants, or related fields preferred, but not a deal breaker. We hire for attitude, train for the task.
Prior experience with POS Systems, Aloha, Micros, Toast, etc or similar computer applications preferred but not required.
Certifications as required by Federal, State, or Local agencies: ServSafe, TIPS Certification required. We will assist with Certification if not certified.
