I am a conservation practitioner and Ph.D. scientist with over two decades of non-profit leadership experience. I am currently CEO of Island Conservation, a non-profit conservation organization that prevent extinctions by saving island species. Previously, I oversaw the learning and evaluation function at the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, which served to strengthen the ability of the Foundation and its individual programs to create and demonstrate transformational change. Before that I spent 17 years with The Nature Conservancy working at global, regional and state-level positions. My last position with TNC was Chief Conservation Strategy Officer, serving on the Conservancy’s Global Executive Team. I have extensive experience developing and executing programs at multiple organizational levels and translating science into applied practice. Prior to The Nature Conservancy, I completed a post-doc at Cornell University where I studied wetlands ecology and climate change. I have authored numerous scientific publications and have served as an internal and external spokesperson on a variety of conservation topics. I also have managed various sized teams, designed and led dynamic learning events and conferences, and provided organization-wide leadership on diversity and gender. I completed my B.S. in environmental studies from Stockton State College in New Jersey, and earned an M.S. in botany and Ph.D. in ecology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University.
