New England Life Care currently has openings for Per Diem I nfusion Nurses in Southern Maine, the North Shore area of Massachusetts, and the New Hampshire Seacoast area due to business expansion. The ideal candidates for this position have excellent interpersonal skills, strong desires to care for patients, and flexible schedules. These nurses will primarily provide service to patients for 1-2 days per week, Monday through Friday. A $3.50 per hour differential will be added for any weekend coverage . There is no on-call requirement .
Job Summary:
The person in this position is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to home infusion therapy patients in conjunction with physician orders. Establishes, implements, and revises, as needed, a plan of treatment that meets each patient's specific needs and follows Joint Commission, federal and state regulations, reimbursement guidelines and NELC policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:
Accurately performs initial and ongoing patient assessments of home infusion therapy patients.
Provides comprehensive initial and ongoing patient and caregiver education relating to the prescribed home infusion therapy.
Demonstrates competency in the aseptic administration and monitoring of all therapy types provided by NELC.
Effectively communicates changes in patient status to appropriate members of infusion and reimbursement teams verbally and in writing (progress notes, e-mail, etc.) in a timely manner.
Comprehensively documents all patient assessments and communication with patients, caregivers, and other members of the healthcare team in each patient's record.
Inserts, maintains / troubleshoots, and discontinues (as appropriate) all types of infusion access according to NELC policies and procedures.
Maintains and demonstrates competency in the use and troubleshooting of infusion equipment and supplies.
Participates in case conferences as needed.
Required Education:
Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Nursing or diploma with equivalent experience.
Minimum of two (2) years acute care experience.
Previous home health nursing experience preferred.
Previous Home Infusion Therapy experience preferred.
Regulatory Requirements:
R.N. license in good standing in the state(s) where providing care / services
Current BLS Certification.
Valid driver's license.
Excellent driving record.
Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations preferred.
Knowledge of the Joint Commission accreditation process and overall JC standards preferred.
Skills and Requirements:
Excellent patient assessment skills required.
Working / practical knowledge of home infusion therapy administration / equipment use preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with all customers and members of the healthcare team verbally and in writing.
Good interpersonal skills required.
Good organizational skills required.
Ability to work independently as well as being a part of a team.

The department is always staffed with engaged Emergency Medicine Board Certified Physicians and Mid-Level Clinicians 24/7, and a Children's Hospital Emergency Physician during prime hours. The department consists of 33 private exam rooms within 3 separate zones to provide specialized care which includes: 2 major trauma rooms, 6 negative pressure rooms, pediatric rooms, fast-track, and a 10-bed secured behavioral health area. The emergency department can serve many needs, i.e., cardiac, pediatric, OBGYN, orthopedic, and respiratory emergencies. Security is stationed in the Emergency Department waiting area A 3-room Triage staffed 24/7 by a nurse, and Medical Provider during prime hours. This area can be utilized for rapid interventions, vertical flow/one touch patients, and rapid medical screenings. Triage nurses assigned triage acuity level for each ambulatory patient based on ESI. Ancillary staff are made up of ED Technicians, Administrative Associates, Mental Health Technicians, and Security. The Role
Our hospital utilizes a team nursing model, where collaboration between nursing staff, providers, and therapeutic teams is essential to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care. In this role, the RN is responsible for managing the clinical intake and admissions process, ensuring that patients are medically and psychiatrically appropriate for admission, and supporting safe transitions into treatment.
The RN conducts thorough assessments, coordinates with internal and external providers, and serves as a clinical liaison during the admissions process. As needed, the RN may also assist on the units with patient care assignments and support nursing operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate admissions and assessment processes for incoming patients
Review intake referrals for accepted patients and collaborate with referral sources
Perform nursing assessments, medication reconciliations, and nurse-to-nurse reports
Coordinate with psychiatrists, medical providers, and interdisciplinary team members to support appropriate admissions and treatment recommendations
Ensure all required medical documentation is obtained from external facilities prior to admission
Secure initial pre-authorizations for treatment and admission when applicable
Provide accurate and ongoing assessment of patient status throughout the admissions process
Notify providers of significant changes in patient condition or concerns during intake
Complete admission documentation and support discharge processes as needed
Administer medications per physician orders and document controlled substance counts according to policy
Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough clinical documentation
Assist inpatient units with patient care assignments as needed
Participate in nursing audits and quality assurance activities
Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues
Provide direction and coordination of unit activities when assigned
RegisteredNurse Essential Functions
Assess physical and behavioral health needs of patients and develop individualized nursing care plans
Provide nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and facility policies
Educate patients and families regarding medical and behavioral health conditions
Maintain professional boundaries while establishing therapeutic rapport with patients
Ensure patient status is continually monitored and documented
Support a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed care environment
Education, Licensure, and Experience
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Current Massachusetts RegisteredNurse (RN) license
At least one year of RN experience required
Behavioral health experience is valued but not required
Ideal candidates are passionate about patient advocacy, teamwork, and behavioral health care

Compensation and Differentials
Base Pay Range:
$38 - $47.00 per hour
Shift Differentials:
Weekend Day: $3.00/hour
Weekday Evening: $4.00/hour
Weekend Evening: $7.00/hour
Overnight Weekday: $6.00/hour
Overnight Weekend: $8.00/hour
Additional bonus shifts are available, up to $200 per shift in addition to differential pay.
Opportunities to train as a Nursing Supervisor are available for interested RNs.
