New Horizon Center was incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois on March 6, 1967.
Horizons was founded in 1979 by sisters Chris and Kathleen McNaboe when they were both special education teachers.
With the help of parents who believed in the mission, a limited partnership was formed and the current Horizons property was purchased in 1985.
In September of 2006, New Horizon Center built a 31,000 sq. ft. state of the art facility that was designed to meet the needs and challenge the abilities of students and adults with severe developmental disabilities and autism.
