The School Age ChildCare Program Assistant facilitates lesson plans to an assigned group of children. GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, before and after school, about 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be required. BENEFITS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Facilitates the daily/weekly lesson plan to children in a creative and stimulating environment.
Provides direct supervision and leadership to the assigned group of children.
Follows department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of program/work areas. Ensures PPE compliance.
Provides a safe environment for all activities. Enforces safety rules and reports/treats any injuries.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and school administration.
Maintains all required certifications. Attends and participates in staff meetings and training sessions.
Carries out other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 16 years of age and have valid NYS Working papers if under 18.
Must have experience working with elementary school age children.
Knowledge, experience, and skills in the areas of group work, child development, values, education, and group activities are preferred.
Meets qualifications in compliance with licensing requirements of the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
Successfully completes the OCFS comprehensive background clearance requirements before beginning work at the program site.

The Opportunity
The Childcare Specialist for the NYC Childcare Enrollment and Outreach Initiative will manage a grant-funded project to connect families in the Lower East Side to childcare assistance. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about people and wants to be part of a mission-driven organization making a lasting impact in New York City.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with agency staff and community service providers to identify families in need of childcare assistance
Screen families for eligibility utilizing a standardized tool and complete applications
Enroll childcare providers in the program and assist them in enrolling children
Build knowledge/expertise of the NYC childcare landscape in the Lower East Side to assist families to connect with childcare as needed
Determine the appropriate childcare type and setting to meet the family's eligibility and needs
Conduct yearly recertifications for continuing eligibility and enrollment
Utilize excellent communication skills to engage families and childcare providers, troubleshoot, and assist them with successfully using assistance
Conduct visits to childcare providers
Provide information or referrals for childcare for families who are not deemed eligible for assistance through the project
Track childcare enrollment and recertification
Maintain project data
Create and maintain case records for each family and provider
Attend meetings with the project team, funder, and stakeholders
Participate in advocacy efforts as requested
Build and maintain close, daily interactions with co-workers and supervisors
Effectively communicate with families and outside agency staff
Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization

PROGRAM SUMMARY
CPC Queens Services for Families with Special Needs (CPC Queens Special Needs) provides cultural and linguistic services and programs to support individuals with developmental disabilities to enjoy meaningful relationships with friends, family, and others in their lives; experience personal health and growth; and live in the home of their choice and fully participate in their communities.
The Josephine M. Ho Home for Special Needs (also known as The Josephine Ho IRA House) is a supervised Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA), located at 55-11 97th Street, Corona, NY 11368-3049. Our supervised IRA provides 24-hour staff support for six individuals. Our staff follow a person-centered Life Plan which includes activities and supports that is created to help the person become more independent and to have a meaningful life.
JOB SUMMARY
CPC Queens Special Needs Program is seeking caring, empathetic and compassionate individuals to join the team as Direct Support Professionals to provide a nurturing and safe home environment for the residents of the IRA house, and assistance with the residents' essential daily activities. Reporting to the IRA Residence Manager & Director of Queens Special Needs, the Direct Support Professionals will also support the administrative aspects of the program at the IRA house for reporting and compliance. This position is located at the Josephine Ho IRA House.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide nurturing and safe home environment for residents including emotional support, fire safety skills and basic housekeeping.
Implement residential habilitation plans supporting residents' valued outcomes including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and shopping.
Identify, report and prevent incidents posing risk and/or potential risk to well-being, health and safety of residents.
Document services provided in English and maintain compliance with CPC, OPWDD and Medicaid regulations.
Apply critical thinking and judgement to independently resolve daily challenges and seek supervision as appropriate.
Complete and maintain required training and certification including Approved Medication Administration Personnel, First Aid and CPR.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Experience in the field of developmental disabilities desired.
Skills and Competencies:
Collaborative team spirit including effective strategies to collaborate with diverse personalities and styles.
Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new skills and adjust to changing circumstances, priorities and needs.
Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is required.
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW
$17.00 - $18.00 per hour; Direct Support Professionals will be on-call / as needed on a day-to-day basis.

Essential Job Duties
Supervises and supports individuals with Autism in having productive & meaningful experiences in their work setting.
Assists participants in reaching vocational goals by teaching and supporting them in following workplace protocols, appropriate interactions with peers and supervisors, self-advocacy, and job acquisition and retention.
Accurately document service documentation, daily notes and other information as required.
Work in partnership with the people we support to promote their health and safety.
May need to cover when a Job Coach or 1:1 DSP is absent.
Prevent, recognize, and report abuse toward the people we support.
Promote and support community involvement.
Be prompt, organized and respectful to your co-workers, the people you support and the members of the community.

Minimum Job Qualifications
18 years of age or older
High School completion is required.
Experience in a related field is beneficial, but not required.
Must be able to bend and lift items 30 lbs or less.
Must be able to multi-task and stand for the majority of the day.
Valid NYS driver's license and no infractions that preclude a person from working with members of a vulnerable population.
Schedule
Full-Time, Monday - Friday 9:00AM to 3:15PM, with the option to work additional hours
