1925

FPL was born in the final days of 1925 when

1, 1944, Admiral W.R. Munroe, commandant of the Seventh Naval District of the United States Navy, presented FPL with the Citation for Meritorious Wartime Service.

1950

To finance Florida’s growing demand for power, FPL joined the New York Stock Exchange in 1950.

In 1957, FPL filed for a $4.4 million rate decrease, the first of 11 rate decreases over the next 15 years.

1960

In 1960, FPL built a new unit at Port Everglades with plans for three more units – just in time.

Starting in 1964, FPL built the Cape Canaveral plant to provide

In 1965, FPL announced plans to build a $100 million nuclear power plant at Turkey Point.

1972

2001

2002

FPL added its 4 millionth customer in 2002 and continues to take actions to meet its customers’ demand for reliable electric service and help them take more control over their energy use:

2007

A new natural gas-fired power generating unit at FPL’s Turkey Point site south of Miami was commissioned in 2007.

2009

Chairman and CEO, 2009.

In 2009, FPL commissioned the DeSoto Next Generation Solar Energy Center, the largest solar photovoltaic power plant in the United States.

2015

2015 Vehicle-to-Home and Building with FCA Hosted V2B Mashup event with 3 EV charging demonstrations (GM, NREL and Qualcomm) Commissioned microgrid for TARDEC GSPEL lab Demonstrated community energy storage at NextEnergy with DTE Hosted Global Automotive Innovation Challenge semi-finals

2016

He also was responsible for the new Medium-duty, launch in 2016.

2017

Moved to Wellington in January 2017 & fell in love with the wonderful community

2017 Presented results of MDrive with DENSO at SAE International Continued NextRide scooter share program and informed regional businesses and anchor institutions, and local community groups of key considerations ISO-15118 use cases demonstration with Mercedes DC smart charging with Eco-G and Ford

2018

2018 Initiated demand response demonstration with DTE and Enbala EV Ride and Drive Event for Lightning Systems and BP Michigan Energy Office EV strategy support CharIN North American EV workshop and interoperability testing 400 kW DC fast charging with Delta Products, GM, and DTE

FPL is in the midst of executing one of the largest solar expansions ever in the eastern United States with eight new solar energy centers brought online in 2018.

2020

Next Energy Solar was formed in 2020 by Justin Baker & Spencer Gordon with the goal of bringing sustainable energy & value to home owners in the Wellington, Colorado area.

2021

2021 Launched 6 PlanetM and MMFP real world deployments Facilitated development of hydrogen fast fueling components on behalf of HDHIG Supported City of Detroit Climate Action Plan Strategy Launched EV Battery 2nd use and recycling market research funded by EGLE
