    RN -PRN Day Under the direct supervision of the Director of Patient Services, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care in accordance with the laws governing nursing practice. JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ensures that scope of duties and services provided are consistent and within the guidelines of the state nursing practice act 2. Demonstrates knowledge of individual patients'/residents' histories, current progress, and treatment goals 3. Demonstrates the ability to make appropriate nursing decisions when assessing patients/residents 4. Complies with established medication policies and procedures 5. Effectively operates and troubleshoots commonly utilized equipment 6. Completes all required documentation in a timely manner 7. Receives telephone orders from mid-level practitioner/M.D. and fulfills orders per established policies and procedures 8. Reassesses patients per established policies and procedures to identify progress and trends that require intervention or reporting to the mid-level practitioner 9. Demonstrates knowledge of and possesses the ability to perform basic drug calculations 10. Participates in rounds when appropriate 11. Accepts patient assignments as directed by Charge Nurse or Director of Patient Services 12. Coordinates care with ancillary clinical departments to provide optimal patient care 13. Coordinates and oversees care delivered by LSA's 14. Ensures patient weights are performed and documented for patients as ordered 15. Enhances professional growth by attending seminars or further educational opportunities 16. Actively seeks out opportunities for professional advancement 17. Actively participates in orientation of new employees 18. Possesses the ability to recognize changes in patient status and ensures implementation of appropriate interventions 19. Verbalizes the Registered Nurse role in patient emergency situations and cardiopulmonary arrest 20. Performs other duties as assigned 21.
