What you'll do...
Lead the Disaster Recovery initiative
We are targeting a major milestone this year: setting up comprehensive Disaster Recovery. You will design and execute our multi-region strategy from the ground up. You will help design and execute this strategy, with help from the team, to hit our RTO and RPO targets.
Ship code
You are capable of writing backend code to solve infrastructure problems, whether that's coding a custom CLI tool in Go to streamline deployments or scripting complex automation logic that Terraform can't handle.
Architect "Golden Paths"
You will build and maintain the core Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines that power our engineering organization. You will create reusable, versioned infrastructure components that allow product teams to provision resources (ECS, RDS, S3, MSK) safely and autonomously.
Own Reliability and On-Call
You will be a key player in our on-call rotation. You will set the standard for how we observe and debug our cloud footprint. This involves configuring comprehensive alerting, optimizing costs, and ensuring that our multi-region setup is actually observable.
Ideal Candidate Profile
You are compassionate and empathetic to your customers: the developers at Moment. You hear them out, take feedback seriously, and ship solutions which help them.
You have 2+ years of AWS and Terraform experience, but you are also a capable coder. You can read and contribute to application code when debugging infrastructure issues. (Go experience is a major plus, but fluency in Python/Rust/Java is acceptable if you are willing to learn).
You have worked in a multi-region environment and understand the physics of distributed systems. You are ready to apply that knowledge to build a greenfield DR strategy.
You treat infrastructure as a product. You have a history of building tools that make developers' lives easier, and you take pride in writing clear, accessible guides for your tools.

HYBRID WORKING: This role is required to be in the Inglewood office every Tuesday and Thursday with the occasional third day thrown in.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: We have an all-company learning program so that we're constantly leveling up our skills.
SUSTAINABILITY: We think Earth's pretty rad. That's why we take action wherever possible to limit our impact on the planet.
1% FOR THE PLANET MEMBER: 1% of goodr's annual sales go directly to environmental organizations.
CARBON NEUTRAL: In 2019, goodr became a 100% carbon neutral company.
Fun Fact: goodr celebrates every Earth Day by releasing limited-edition sunglasses with frames made from 100% recycled materials-and the packaging is 100% sustainable, too!
ABOUT THE ROLE
Look, we've already done the hard part. We've scrubbed our data until it sparkles like a fresh pair of "Flamingos on a Booze Cruise" sunnies. We've got a warehouse that's cleaner than Carl's private cabana, and our database models are purring like a kitten in a sunbeam.
But here's the thing: a clean house is no fun if you can't find the snacks.
We're looking for an Analytics Engineer who looks at a Star Schema and sees a work of art. We need someone who doesn't just "do data"-we need someone who wants to take our existing, pristine data tables and dance with them.
If you get a tingly feeling in your soul when a Fact table and a Dimension table join perfectly on a primary key, you're in the right place. We aren't looking for a "Data Janitor" to mop up spills; we're looking for an Architect of Insight who can walk into our beautifully designed data neighborhood, learn the street names, and start building skyscrapers of logic on top of it.
Are you ready to be the keeper of the Schema? To protect the purity of our cleaned data? To ensure our metrics stay as polarized as our lenses? Then read on!
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and build robust data models in our data warehouse (DWH) so that our analyst team can build reports with ease
Maintain the health, organization, and security of our DWH and corresponding integrations
Optimize efficiency and costs based on system uptime, source system integrations, and refresh rates
Ensure database design is optimized for both front-end and back-end users
Respond to user-reported database errors in a timely manner
Manage relationships with DWH provider
Determine, document, and enforce comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and best practices
Perform trend analysis and system capacity planning
Implement and maintain data distribution and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
Conduct regular disaster recovery testing
Investigate and resolve database performance and capacity issues
Monitor and maintain database security
Communicate effectively with the cross-functional teams to address their needs (bilingual in nerd and business!)
Keep the data warehouse and your work organized-more well-labeled closet, less junk drawer (Marie Kondo who?)
Create API connections and scope new integrations - work with our ETL partners to find ways to continue integrating more data into our DWH as the business grows
No direct reports - you get to focus on the fun stuff without managing your fellow flamingos
This role is in the Business Intelligence team and will report directly to the Director of Business Intelligence
Perform other related duties as assigned
ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
May or may not have a degree...we don't care (bonus points for Basset Hound Science or Dinosaur Law)
Asks a lot of questions
4+ years experience in analytics engineering, database administration, database architecture, or Data as a Service (DaaS)
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
Loves Data Integration! Lives for Data Integration! Can't get enough of Data Integration!
Excited about being a data detective-where is this data from, why is the code written this way, where does this lead? When a number looks funky, will stop at nothing to hunt down the root cause!
Possess advanced knowledge of database design, ETL/ELT processes, and data management best practices
Proficiency in SQL is a MUST
Experience in Snowflake (preferred), Fivetran, and DBT
Experience managing version control; should be proficient with Git/GitHub
Bonus points if you have experience in NetSuite and/or Shopify
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Loves the work more than a paycheck
Is happy to give away credit to their team
Loves getting and giving feedback
Is into personal growth
Thinks Fun is being great (not partying)
Is proactive and an independent problem solver! (Can you google a question?)
WHAT YOU GET
A role at a company that is going to the moon
The opportunity to show up every day and have fun
The ability to learn and grow as a person
Paid vacation (we encourage you to take time off!)
Flexible work environment (want to go for a run at 11am on Wednesday, go for it!)
Paycheck... obviously. Salary range: $110k - $125k, final number dependent on experience
Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits
401(K) with company matching
Financial Wellness Counseling
Sunglasses. Duh.
**No Visa Sponsorship is available for this position.
