Paramedics use Advanced Life Support knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. Job Responsibility 1.Responds to assignments as directed and updates unit status as required. 2.Assesses the patient's nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures in accordance with New York State Department of Health Guidelines. 3.Administers first aid treatment or Advanced Life Support care to sick or injured persons in prehospital settings. 4.Coordinates or interacts professionally with partners, patients, public safety personnel, colleagues, and hospital emergency staff to facilitate care delivery. 5.Communicates with dispatchers, medical control, or treatment center personnel to provide information about situation, to arrange reception of patients, or to receive instructions for further treatment. 6.Writes a comprehensive report documenting the situation at the scene, physical exam, orders received, treatments rendered, response to these treatments, and other information deemed pertinent. 7.Completes check of vehicle equipment and systems, and completes manifest at start of tour. Responsible for competent operation of all equipment and systems.
