This is an Hourly position. Overview This pharmacy technician will be supporting pharmacy needs for the OSF Home Care Pharmacy in Peoria, IL This technician will work Monday-Friday schedule that will consist of an 8 hour shift. Must be available and flexible with being part of on call rotation every 11 weeks working Friday evening and Saturday. On call holiday rotation. POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Pharmacy Technician I assists pharmacists in ensuring medications are promptly, accurately and safely dispensed, delivered, charged and credited. Prepares and labels medications to match orders. Maintains records related to drug use and charges. This position requires the Technician to be proficient in both dispensing oral medications and in preparation of I.V. solutions. Duties may vary by assigned area or shift. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric. Work involves standing, lifting and walking continually while in the process of performing duties. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School/GED Licenses/Certifications: PHTC2 - Pharmacy Tech Certification (tracked by HR) Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) validated by PTCB or National Healthcareer Certification Experience: At least 18 years of age Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: 1 year pharmacy. Demonstrates knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology. Six months of pharmacy intern or pharmacy technician experience preferably in a hospital setting. Possess current pharmacy intern or pharmacy technician license in the State of Illinois. Successful completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.
