Our municipal team specializes in civil engineering services for municipal projects, including water and sewer, stormwater management, road and sidewalk design, and public works facilities. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Performs engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications.
Develop plans, specifications and inspection reports as needed on assigned tasks to see that items are complete, accurate, and in accordance with good engineering practice.
Is technically involved in the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work and detailed checking of design computations done by others or general coordination of specific design aspects of a project.
Assign tasks to and directs engineers, technicians and administrative staff.
Work with staff engineers and project managers to ensure projects are executed with strong financial performance related to multipliers, profit, and accounts receivable.
Interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others in a professional manner.
Provides input and financial acumen to pricing and costing of proposals.
REQUIREMENTS:
Self-driven, energetic, and motivated team player with the capability to effectively work on multiple projects/tasks.
Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
Professional Engineer registration in Washington.
Must have a minimum of 6 years of progressive civil engineering design experience, with public sector projects.
Must have demonstrated experience managing design teams on small engineering projects.

KJ is seeking an experienced and collaborative Senior Remediation Engineer to lead and support municipal and private sector clients in environmental investigation and remediation projects. You will partner with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to solve complex environmental problems and advance remediation programs.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about growing our environmental services practice and will be a seller/doer with the ability to bring clients/projects with them.
Review and guide staff developed work plans for site delineation and pilot testing of remedial alternatives
Lead remedial action feasibility studies, prepare remedial action plans, and design remediation systems
Oversee engineers, scientists, and other team members to develop and evaluate remedial alternatives and complete options analyses
Prepare bid specifications and evaluate contractor bids
Provide senior oversight during construction and operation of treatment technologies, including monitoring, evaluating treatment effectiveness, and regulatory reporting
Lead development and review of technical documents, reports, and designs
Oversee quality assurance and quality control of deliverables for both self-managed projects and projects managed by others
Work collaboratively with dynamic project teams and mentor and train junior staff
Support business development and client service management, including participation in professional organizations such as ITRC
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering. Master of Science preferred
Professional Engineer license required
Fifteen or more years of consulting experience
Experience with remedial technologies including Soil Vapor Extraction, Air Sparging, Bio Sparging, Dual Phase Extraction (DPE), In Situ Bioremediation, In Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO), groundwater extraction and treatment also known as Pump and Treat, soil excavation, and waste characterization and disposal is required
Ability to lead remedial designs and oversee implementation and optimization of the technologies listed
Practical experience developing and evaluating remedial alternatives, completing options analyses, designing, implementing, and overseeing operation of environmental remediation systems, evaluating remedial progress data and adjusting strategies, managing project schedules and budgets, and supervising and mentoring staff
Understanding of regulatory frameworks under RCRA and CERCLA and familiarity with construction techniques for remedial activities
Experience with petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated compounds, heavy metals, PFAS, PCBs, dioxins, furans, and other common contaminants
Experience working on complex remediation projects across multiple market sectors is strongly preferred
Ability to travel to support ongoing environmental projects

KPFF Seattle's Transportation Team focuses on designing infrastructure that moves people and connects communities across the region. Located in downtown Seattle, our office is seeking an experienced Senior Stormwater Engineer to support major projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. This position will support transportation projects and associated hydraulic elements, primarily stormwater design. This position requires the candidate to utilize their expertise in water resources engineering related projects, including stormwater facilities design; surface water hydrology and hydraulic analysis and design; culvert and bridge hydraulics; stream and habitat restoration analysis and design; preparation of engineering and construction plans, specifications, and estimates; and coordination with regulatory agencies for project permitting. It will be the responsibility of the position to perform engineering design and to provide a high-quality product to our clients.
Position Responsibilities:
This position allows you to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with clients in the public sector and work on all phases of transportation projects. Responsibilities include:
Support a wide range of engineering projects for roadway and transit improvements, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, site development, fish passage, and ecological restoration.
Perform stormwater related design, analysis, and report generation for roadways, bridges, airports, and related transportation infrastructure.
Provide detailed engineering calculations for design of stormwater and fish passage facilities.\
Create hydrologic and hydraulic models.
Responsible for design of water resources systems and facilities including hydraulic analysis for stream crossings and evaluating for fish passage and scour.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal fish passage and stormwater management designs standards.
Create stormwater, stream, conveyance designs, and associated grading in AutoCAD Civil 3D utilizing 3D surfaces and pipe networks.
Interface with clients and public agencies on an as-needed basis.
Coordinate with teammates on projects to ensure proper and timely execution.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in design, planning, and implementation of stormwater and hydraulic elements on transportation projects specific to hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) design.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Engineering in Training certification.

As a Staff Engineer (0-4 years of experience), you will collaborate with a team of experienced professionals working on meaningful public infrastructure projects that improve water, wastewater, transportation and environmental systems. What You Will Do:
Apply your engineering education to real-world challenges while receiving mentorship and training from experienced engineers
Gather data and support technical analysis for planning, design, and construction of civil infrastructure projects
Perform entry-level design calculations, assist in report development, and prepare base maps using survey data
Participate in field visits and construction observations with guidance from your project team
Revise reports, plans, and visual materials based on feedback from your supervisor
Gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic modeling tools, and other specialized software
Support projects involving public water, wastewater, stormwater, irrigation, and transportation infrastructure
Work across offices and disciplines to contribute to multi-office project teams
Engage in a supportive team culture that encourages asking questions, solving problems, and growing professionally
What You Will Bring:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
Strong academic record, and demonstrated intellectual curiosity preferred
Internship or co-op experience in the engineering or public works industry is a plus
Motivation to learn, adapt, and contribute across a variety of project types
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
Organized, responsive, and able to balance multiple responsibilities in a team environment
Genuine interest in public sector infrastructure design and community-focused solutions
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
EIT certification within 1 year required; completed EIT preferred
Desire to pursue PE licensure within 4-5 years
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and modeling software is a plus but not required
Experience with PDF editing tools is helpful but not required
Compensation:
Hourly rate starts around $35/hour and will vary based on experience and qualifications
Overtime (time and a half) is paid for hours exceeding 40 per week
